Authors Note: READ PLEASE!!!!!!! Okay so I just wanted to let everyone know that I am sorry for taking so long to update. I know I had promised to update more often but some things came up. Some of you probably won't care (lol) but I feel like you all deserve an explanation.
Long story short, my mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer, she had surgery to get a part of her stomach removed, and now she will be starting chemo.
My mind hasn't exactly been in the right place lately so please understand why I haven't updated.
That being said, this chapter is not in Clarissa's pov. It's in third person point of view.
Thank you to everyone who has commented on the last chapter, messaged me and continued to read!
Enjoy!!
xoxoxoxo
( I can't believe I had to write this authors note back in 2016. One of the hardest things I had to do. It's been 5 years since then and I can say with certainty that my mother is doing so much better compared to when I first wrote this. I won't delete it, because I feel like it makes an important time in my life. 10/11/2021)

Chapter 10.5
Santiago's P.O.VWalking Clarissa to her room with Diego in tow, Santiago helps her get into bed, letting her know that he would be leaving the house with the excuse that he has to check how the restaurants he owns in Spain are doing. It had been a few months since he last paid them a visit.
"It's 11 at night; couldn't you check them in the morning?" His daughter, Clarissa asks him with suspicion laced in her voice.
"Some things can't be put off. You should get some rest." He responds with a stern voice when she starts to protest.
He was happy that his daughter was starting to feel comfortable enough to worry about him the way she was. Though only knowing each other for a few days, she was beginning to accept them as her family. The feeling was surreal.
Diego and him walk of the room, shutting the room door behind them. They silently make their way back downstairs stopping in the foyer. Santiago is handed a coat from one of the men standing guard near the door. Next he's handed a semi-automatic pistol. Clicking the safety on, he positions the gun in the waist bind of his pants.
"Take care of her while I'm gone." He says to his youngest son. He knows he doesn't have to tell him that though. Diego would do it without a seconds thought.
Normally Diego would be out and about with his cousins Toni and Daniel at various clubs in Spain. But with the recent events of his sister appearing on her own accord, he had decided to stay in and spend quality time with her. Though they had barely met, he had known since he was a little kid that he had a younger sibling. Whether that sibling was a boy or girl, he didn't care. All he knew was that he would love them and try to be the best big brother he could be when he finally had the chance to meet them.
Santiago knew that Clarissa would be safe and sound with Diego and his men watching over her. He smiles as he thinks about how she was probably thinking he was on his way to murder someone or perhaps wipe out an entire town.
In reality he was on his way to meet up with his brother, Gabriel and Adriano at a club that his family owned.
Santiago's brother, Alfonso, including him, had hidden audio surveillance and cameras throughout their respective houses. There had been previous attempts at kidnappings in the past. Not knowing who was in the house or how they got in left them feeling bitter. Even with men constantly protecting their homes, there was always someone backing stabbing them, some one who would let the enemy trespass. They couldn't take any chances so those hidden devices were installed throughout the house. Everything that was said or done was heard by one of the most trusted and loyal security men, including themselves.
