In a Split of a Second

Not realizing that they had over stayed their visit until it was almost time for the castle to open its doors for the tourists, Frank and April scrambled as fast as they could to leave the property before they got caught.

"Hurry April, if they catch us we will be in serious trouble!" Frank yelled over his shoulders as he ran to open the back door to Sterlingshire castle.

April wheeled her chair with trembling fingers out of the castle, and followed Frank down a path through a wooded area, "Wait, why are we going down this way?" April shouted behind Frank.

"Because it is the safer route, no one comes this way, and this path will lead us to the other side of the grounds. There is an opening through some bushes and we can safely get through them and no one will be the wiser." Frank told her, as he ran back to April and grabbed the wheel chair, pushing it as fast as he could towards the bushes.

"I'm sorry Frank."

"There's nothing to be sorry about!"

"Yes there is, you have been very good to me and I have not been fair."

Frank ignored her words and continued to roll the wheelchair until they were safely out of the Sterlingshire property. "We are safe." He said, as he let go of the wheel chair and exhaled a deep breath.

"Frank?"

"Yes?"

"Look at me Frank, turn around and face me!" April said, not at all pleased that she had to explain herself, but Frank deserved an explaination, he was a kind soul and she liked him.

Frank stopped walking ahead of April and slowly turned to face her. "What?" He asked, and April read the raw pain in his eyes.

"I said I was sorry, I like you Frank, but this will never work, right now I need a friend, please understand that I am not in any position to start a romance under the circumstances."

"Why, because you are handicapped?" Frank asked in a hurtful tone of voice, "I don't care about that April, I love you just as you are!"

She felt sorry for him and wanted to give him a hug, but April withheld from doing so, what good can come out of that, it would only give him more hope, she thought, "Frank, I care for you a great deal, but I am not ready for a relationship. I am leaving in a few weeks and you shall never see me again, it's not fair to you if we start something we both can't finish."

Frank looked at her silently with pleading eyes to reconsider, but when he realized that she wouldn't change her mind, his shoulders sank and he took a deep breath of inhalation. "Very well then, a friendship is better than nothing." He told her, and his lips curved into a weak smile.

Aprils heart did a double take, Frank was very handsome and all of a sudden she felt an urge to kiss him! "Kiss me Frank!"

Frank couldn't believe his ears, "What?"

"I said, kiss me!"

And Frank wasted no time, he leaned over and kissed her lips.

The warrior walked right by the kissing couple and felt a stabbing pain in his heart. Edward swallowed a lump in his throat and cursed under his breath. It was never easy for him to witness other people share a romantic moment in broad daylight, it made his heart ache for Julia even more.

Ignoring the pain and electrical current that traveled throughout his entire body, Edward made his way to the back of Sterlingshire. He needed to get inside the castle and visit the secret magical room, because he knew that the Emerald Tablets might have information about Julia. The pain was unbearable, and he knew that it will get worse, because he was warned from Stephan that when he finds his soulmate she will not recognize him and she may rebuke him. With a sinking heart Edward turned his head to steal another peak at the kissing couple but to his dismay, they were not there. He wondered if they were soulmates, and couldn't understand why fate crippled such a young girl who had the rest of her life to live.
