Luna!" My mom shouted as I stumbled out of bed.
Are you seriously going to be
late on your first day of college!?" I can practically hear my mom frantically running around the house.

I take a shower, brush my teeth (and hair) and slip into my clothes.
Jeans and a white T-shirt.
I make my
way down the stairs.
My mom takes one look at me,
and nods as if she approves of what I'm wearing.

You sure you don't want a jacket with that?"
I look at my shirt.

Looks fine to me." I say.
My mom looks me up, again. "It's cold outside, and I don't want my daughter to get pneumonia."
I rolled my eyes playfully.

I grabbed a bowl and poured some milk and cereal into it.
My mom pats my head.

I can't believe my daughter is finally going to a good college!"
I finish my bowl and wash it.

School starts at 8:30. It's only 7:46. I have enough time to do at least something. I thought to myself.
I looked down again.

Fine," I went upstairs, and came back down with a jean jacket.
My mom grinned.

I smiled back.
My mom and I were always close. From our game nights, filled with pizza and board games, to our argument over who stole the remote.
I kinda feel bad now that I'm leaving.

My mom dabbed her eyes with a napkin.
"Logan said he'd be here in five minutes," she glanced at her watch.
She smiled sweetly, "I'm glad you chose such a nice young man to be with." I nod as I pull my bags into the kitchen.

I had left them in the living room. I mean, who wants to pack up upstairs and carry a pound of bags downstairs?

My mom glanced at her watch, again, as if every minute that passes by is an hour.

I hear a car door slam outside.

I looked around one more time.

I wonder what it would be like without me here.
