Chapter 22
It was an eternity waiting for the professor to see us.  So many students and professors came in and out of his office.   Finally the middle-aged lady whom they called Abby came in and told us that the professor would see us now.  She walked us down a long hallway filled with awards and diplomas and paintings!  I saw he had many paintings of old century houses.
I was stunned because in one painting I saw my house,  well not my present house,  but the one from the past where Sam lived!
Rosie's face went pale as paper.
We entered the office and the Professor greeted us very polite and we sat down.  The attendant left as the professor stood at the door and closed the door behind her.  It was a big old wooden desk and many books were on it and papers scattered all over.  He started to tidy a bid and he smiled as he sat down in his big leather chair.  He looked over his round rimmed glasses,  and kindly said,  what can I do for you ladies?
As I explained to him right from the beginning as where I found the ring among old attires,  he looked at me.  After I finished the whole scene he simply asked,  may I call you Heather?  I felt lost,  I thought to myself,  did he believe what I had just told him?  I wanted to just get up and walk away......

It seemed an eternity when he said,  Heather I believe everything you just told me.  I will help you with all this because this is just the beginning.  Have you told someone else about this?  I know that you are married and you must of told your husband,  but who else knows?
I assured the professor that just Rosie and I were the only ones with this secret.  He smiled at us and said not to speak about this to no one because this was too dangerous to let others in.  It's too early in this investigation and reporters always wanted a good story.  I would rather go to your house or meet in some other place.  It's very important to keep this a secret.  I want you to know Heather that I personally know your house,  well I mean your past house!  I have been there too!
I couldn't believe what he had just told me!  Did he know Sam and Alice?  He held Rosie's hand and smiled like if he had known Rosie and Rosie felt comfortable from the moment she saw the professor.  So many questions were going around in my head that the professor said,  Heather it's fine, you will be fine!  I will answer all your questions and you will see everything will fall in place!  I will see you at your house Friday at 3:00pm if that is ok with you because we don't want your husband to find out!  I assured him it was fine and suddenly I felt better.  This secret was killing me and I needed answers.  After awhile we got up and walked out of Prof. Harrington's office not before the professor gave me his personal card.
In the taxi back home we were quiet till we arrived home and that's when Rosie told me she knew the professor!  She knew him in the past.  Rosie had recognized the picture in the hallway of her home of 1812.
