Once upon a Never

I loved him.

His ebony skin

And hands thin,

So handsome...

I found him loathsome.

Once upon a Never

I spared his life.

His blood hot on my fingers,

The scent of death still lingers.

His carcass withered at my feet,

Washed clean by falling sleet.

Once upon a Never

I wept over his grave.

Wind striped white from stone.

Far below my feet his lies alone.

I smile in the snow,

My laughter an eerie echo.

Once upon a Never

I missed him.

His face blessedly forgotten,

Memories of him now rotten.

The sounds of his voice seem muffled.

I live my life. Unruffled.
