It was late afternoon. The tips of the sun's rays were just beginning to disappear behind the great stone faces of the hidden leaf village. The old man was sitting criss cross on a floor mat, his back leaned against the the open paper door. He watched as the small black dots moved in the distant streets, most on their way home or getting dinner. He looked over at the boy. Sleeping, the child had fallen asleep shortly after casting his sharingan genjutsu. Having removed his black kimono, the baby was now dressed in Uchiha clan garb. Beside his makeshift crib were several bottles of milk. He had obtained these things after stealthy " borrowing " them, via shadow clone, unbeknownst to the citizens of the village. The babe exhaled loudly, causing the man to smile, " These supplies I acquired should sustain you for quite sometime." The elder said to the sleeping boy. " Now, what to do with you..." The old man had been pondering this all day. There were several options before him. Killing him was out of the question, since he was not even a year old and possessed a sharingan, and a three tomoe one at that! That was the other mystery. How could a baby have the sharingan, and be able to cast a genjutsu? " Could they have been transplanted? " The old man muttered, deep in thought. That would explain his appearance, which was much different than that of an Uchiha. " No, " Said the man to himself,
" The amount of chakra it would take to keep the sharingan active would surely kill a child. Also, I felt no drop in the boy's chakra level after I released the genjutsu." This would mean that the sharingan is his kekkei genkai. The man sighed for letting himself get side tracked, " None of this matters until I find out what to do with him." There was no way the elder would turn him over to the village. " Maybe, " the man thought, " I can raise him myself, and pass my task onto him. It's the only way my task would be completed." He was right. The old man was not nearly in a condition to keep his word. " Then that settles it." The man said to himself matter-o-factly. The tea whistle started blowing. It surprised the elder, who had forgotten he had put the tea on the wood stove. This caused the baby to wake up and start crying. The man groaned as he got on his feet. " Well, look who decided to wake up," he said jokingly, more to himself than the child. He gave the boy a milk bottle, who immediately began suckling on it. Scoffing, the man made his way to the tea pot. Looking around the common room of his home, he could see the purple banners donning the uchiha crest, which glowed with the orange of the setting sun. He took the tea off the stove and poured it in a small cup. " Heh," the old man chuckled dryly. " This reminds me of the tea Akito used to make," He stared solemnly at the rim of his cup, remembering everything that happened on that day...
