Pov. Seth
"June!" I shouted into her hole. "Do you want something to eat?"
"No I think I'll pass. Its not like I havent eaten in two days or anything." She replied sarcastically. I watched the hole as she climbed out, her short black hair swaying gently in the wind. Dark green eyes sat on her pale face and despite the fact she was short, June had no trouble climbing up out of the burrow she had made.
She followed me inside our small, wooden hut. There were no doors, just a big, gaping hole where the door used to be. She sat down at the table and i handed her a bowl of potato stew. To my surprise, she wasnt eating it. June was just staring at her stew as if it were an old friend she couldnt talk to.
"This is mom's stew." June caught me by surprise, her normal strong voice shifting to a low, sluggish tone.
"What?"
"It was mom's recipe. She would make it on whenever Caleb came home from his internship at . . . at . . . "
I knew she meant. Our brother Caleb had gotten an internship at V-Tech after he moved out. We didnt see much of him, but when we did, our mother made this potato stew. She always had some on hand until that day eight months ago.
