My sister wrote this for me shortly after our mom passed away.

A girl I know • Shawna Brooks 2013

I know a girl who fills her days
With pools and friends and sports to play.
She giggles at most everything
And often times she loves to sing.
When she's near I smile bright
Because she warms me like sunlight.
Her eyes are more blue than the sea
Her hair is the same blond as me.
We share a bond that never breaks,
And a sadness that is hard to take.
But if the hard times get too bad,
I'll always be here for when she's sad.
Because when she's sad, I have a goal,
I'll make her smile, so she feels whole.
Though far away I am most days,
This girl is in my heart always.
