"I hate it," he said to me, his hazel eyes tired and his voice drowsy. "No one ever cares anymore. People say they care. Do they really? I don't think so. People are told to care because that's the right thing to do. People are told to give out their hearts and fall in love spontaneously. But people are smart, dear, so people learn not to care, because people know that if you care you can be hurt again."
