Today was supposed to be the best day of my life. Today, I was supposed to spend my life with him forever. But it didn't happen that way. It didn't happen that way at all. I thought I knew him. I thought he was the man of my dreams. Turns out it was just a lie. He was just a lie. -------
I looked into the mirror, my eyes taking in the appearance of my attire. I began with my body, following the curves of my hips and bust. i was skinny, but not too skinny, and the dress i wore showed that off. Next was my hair. I gazed over the curly brown locks that flowed down my shoulders and stopped mid back. Id had long hair my whole life, and couldn't imagine myself any other way. Last, was my face. My eyes raked over my soft, cherry stained lips, up to my lightly mascaraed, blue eyes. I watched as they shimmered in the soft light of the dressing room I was in. "Annabell!" Someone called. My head snapped towards the direction of the voice, nervousness toying around in my mind. She walked towards me in short strides, her phone tightly clutched in her hand. My eyes caught her piercing gaze, staring straight through me as her lips pursed together. "Yes mother?" I questioned, folding my hands in front of me. An eyebrow was raised as she paused in front of me, the heels she wore causing her to tower over me. "Are you ready?" She questioned, eyeing my appearance. The tightening feeling in my chest grew as I nodded, taking her extended hand. She led me to the thick double doors, my heart pounding with every step. My relationship with my mother had never been the best. As long as I could remember, she'd always been the type of mother who expected one thing from her child, and one thing only. And that was to stay out of her way, unless I was going to appraise her. She had never been there for me, which was one of the many reasons my father had left her. I didn't blame him for leaving, and I wasn't angry. The only thing I was angry about was that he didn't take me with him. I was only to spend the weekends with my father, and always seemed to find myself begging to stay. But in the end, it was always up to one of my many maids to come pick me up from dads, prying me from his arms. My parents were very wealthy, and I couldn't complain. I got everything I wanted, but not in a bad way. I was one of the many rich girls who were humble. Whenever I received something I didn't need, I almost always donated it to someone less fortunate than I. My father appraised me for this, but mother didn't approved. But then again, she NEVER approved, which was one of the many reasons why I hated her.
"Stand straight, Annabell!" She quietly snapped from beside me. I nodded, quickly fixing my posture. It was safe to say I was afraid of her. I was never able to stand up for myself, no matter how hard I tried.
I watched as she pushed passed the doors, the music beginning as soon as she gave her signal. I took a deep breath, a smile upon my face as I realized what this day meant. I would finally be away from her. I'd be with him. I strode down the aisle, careful to take small steps in time to the music like I'd practiced, ever since I was a little girl. My eyes glanced up, my heart falling out of my chest as I saw him, staring back at me. Jack. The love of my life.
I'd met Jack through a friend of, believe it or not, my mother. I'd met him at a party, his dirty blonde hair and blue eyes mesmerizing. We'd fallen in love almost immediately. He was the perfect man for me; we never got into fights, he had a perfect job, had proven his love to me more than once and was just..just perfect. Most importantly..... he was truthful with me. I trusted him with everything I had. And now I was going to spend the rest of my life with him.
I stepped up to the altar, a smile plastered across my face as his warm hand found mine. He nodded, a half smile playing across his lips as the preacher began the ceremony.
About half way into the speech however, a loud knock could be heard from outside, causing everyone to turn their heads. After a short pause, the ceremony picked up, only to be followed by another loud knock. I looked at jack, who's eyebrows were furrowed in confusion. My lips parted to ask the question everyone in that room was thinking....... But I never got to. Almost immediately, a loud gunshot rang out through the halls of the church. Screams were heard as I watched 4 men in black uniforms burst through the double doors. There faces were covered with black rags, the only thing visible being their eyes. Guns were clutched into their hands, as they all scattered. More gun shots rang out as they lifted their weapons in te air. "Give us the girl," a deep voice rang out, over the screams and frantic pounding of feet as people ran out of the room. I turned towards jack, my body profusely shaking with fright. The look in his eyes were of pure anger, and hatred. Did Jack know these people? Did he have something to do with this? He couldn't have.... My head snapped towards the direction of another gunshot. I gasped as I was pushed to the ground, landing on my back as a bullet shot past me. My head shot up, turning in the direction of my attackers. "Get her.... Bring her out and hurry! We'll meet you there," One of the men commanded. I watched as the tall, lean one hurried towards me, helping me up. I was ready to punch, kick and fight my way through this until I caught a glimpse of his eyes. He had the most amazing pair of emerald green eyes I'd ever laid eyes on, an I couldn't help but stop my actions as we stared at each other. He stared back at me not a brief moment, before quickly scooping me up over his shoulder, mumbling a quiet apology. I looked at jack, who I was surprised to see holding a gun pointed towards the other three men. Before I could speak, the man carrying me took of into a run, speeding out the door and into a black van. I gasped as he set me down, unlocking the door and shoving me inside. I wasn't able to get two words out before he quickly climbed into the drivers seat, slamming the door behind him. I heard the click of the locks moments later. "W-what's going on?!" I asked, my voice coming out as a shaky cry. His head raised, his eyes glaring at me. "Shut up and keep quiet, or I will kill you," he spat, pulling out his gun. My breathing quickened, as the engine began and quickly roared to life as we sped away.
