Deep in the mantle, magma stirs. The heat and pressure are all consuming. Never stable, never static. That is all about to change. A Class M star has gone supernova, shooting unknown particles across space.
Something came from that explosion. It traveled all the way here to Earth, slipping past our magnetic field, passing over the human population, and plunged deep into the mantle. This element was able to somehow excite the magma. Now frenzied, the magma had to go somewhere. That direction was up.
In about three days, three-fourths of Earth's magma was shooting up into the weak spots in the crust. The sheer amount of the lava broke deep into other areas, countries that normally weren't affected by volcanoes, caused chaos to reign. The end of the world was just the beginning.
