Chapter 6 - Getting To Know You More

Nasa kalagitnaan na ng palabas ng mag ring yong phone ko. It was an unregistered number so hindi ko sana sasagutin ng magsalita ang Kuya Dean.

"Who's that? Why don't you answer it?"

"I don't know Kuya. Unregistered eh."

"Answer it then come back here okay?"

"Uhm. Okay."

I decided to answer it since the caller is so persistent. I wonder kung sino. Hindi ko naman maisip.

"Hello?"

"HI. Danielle, it's me Luke. What's up?"

"Oh Hi too. Why?"

"Oh you're hurting my ego. Why do you keep on doing that?"

"Napatawag ka?" I keep on asking to hide my excitement.

"Haven't I told you na I'll call? Grabe ka naman. Nag chat pa tayo tapos ang cold mo. Ang sungit mo talaga?"

"Ano?! Sinong masungit ha? Eh sa ganito naman talaga ako. Saka hindi tayo close."

"OO na. I just call to ask if nakapag-dinner ka na ba?"

"Oo just a while ago. Thanks for asking. How about you?"

"Hindi pa nga eh. Gutom na ko."

"Eh di kumain ka? Ano ba yan?"

"Okay now that I learned na you had your dinner na I'll eat na. Okay, bye?"

That's it? Hay naman.... Ganun lang, ang weird talaga nang lalaking yon. Makabalik na nga sa sala.

Nanood ako ulit ng may nagtext. Galing kay Luke kaya binasa ko kaagad.

Luke: I'm done eating. Ano gawa mo?

Me: Watching.

Luke: What are you watching?

Me: Koreanovela.. Memories of Bali.

Luke: Romantic mo naman?

Me: Romantic agad? Bakit hindi ka ba nanood nito?

Luke: Hindi eh. Hindi ako makarelate. I like actions. Like Pearl Harbor.

Napatawa ako kasi yong film na sinabi nya eh parang mas angkop na sabihing romantic movie kesa action.

Me: Pearl Harbor? Ha! Ha! Ha!

Luke: Why are you laughing? :-D

Me: It's a romantic movie. I thought you don't like romantic movies?

Luke: You're wrong. I'm on the other side. May action doon. Di ako nag focus sa soft side. Change topic tayo.

Me: Okay go ahead.

Luke: Who's with you?

Me: My big bro.

Luke: What's his name?

Me: Dean Saavedra.

Luke: Are you referring to Dr. Dean Saavedra of Valley Medical Hospital? Yong pinakabatang surgeon at gwapong lalaking OB-Gyne?

Me: Yes. How did you know him?

Luke: I just happened to read it in the magazines. He's quite famous.

Me: I thought so.

Luke: What time will you go to sleep?

Me: About an hour or so? And you?

Luke: That soon? Why so early naman?

Me: That's the time I usually sleep. I need to rest. I still have things to do tomorrow.

Luke: Oops!!! Okay got it. Let just keep on chatting while you are still awake. You don't mind, don't you?

Me: Yeah I don't mind really.

Luke: Back to my question when we are chatting. Can we see each other this Saturday?

Me: I don't think so. I'm not sure if I'll be there.

Luke: Where would you be then?

Me: I'll visit someone.

Luke: Someone special?

Me: Very special....

I didn't get a reply from him after that message. I thought he's not going to send message but my phone beeps.

Luke: Sorry!!!! I was doin' something.

Me: It's okay. Take your time.

Luke: I know this sounds so conceited and too early but I tell you I'm interested in you. I hope you'll not get angry.

Me: I don't know what to say.

Luke: Just let me know more about you.

Me: What if I won't?

Luke: Why won't you then?

Me: I choose not to.

Luke: Sounds awful. :-(

Me: That I don't know.

Luke: Why do I have the feeling that you are setting a wall? A very huge wall.

Me: I just have to. After I've been through. You can't blame me.

Luke: I don't care Dan. Let's see how far this will go and I assure you that this is not the end of the story.

Me: Why are we talking about this?

Luke: Because I want to.

Me: I'm not comfortable about this. If you'll excuse me I need to sleep now.

Luke: Please Dan.....

Hindi na ako nagreply kasi parang sasabog ang dibdib ko. Naiisip kong bigla ang dahilan ng paghihirap ko ng ilang buwan. Kahit hindi ko gusto ay dumaloy sa isipan ko ang nakaraan....
