The boys had an early training session the next day; leaving me to laze around the house on my own that morning. I leaned my head back on the couch as I waited for my mother to answer the phone.

Julian had practically squeezed me half to death the moment we entered our apartment the night before. Leon and Max simply stood behind me, giggling like girls at the sight of me being suffocated.

He was ecstatic. Much more thrilled than I was, definitely. All I could do was stare helplessly at Max as Julian rambled on about how excited and proud he was.

Max had planted a kiss on my forehead as he was about to leave, whispering into my ear, "he might cry once you get into Fachhochschule Gelsenkirchen." I had laughed, he was probably right.

"Hello?"

"Mom!"

"Oh honey it's you! Congratulations on UoL!" She sounded extremely happy. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Mom, UoL was my second choice."

"But it was first to accept you," she said. I could picture her grinning sheepishly on the other end as I frowned in reply. "I still want to go to Fachhochschule Gelsenkirchen, though," I reminded her.

Back in England, I had always dreamed about going to a university closer to my brother. When we found out about Fachhochschule, I was over the moon. Not only did the university have the exact programme I wanted, but it would also allow me to be much closer to Julian.

"Don't worry, honey, I'm sure they'll accept you soon," she said reassuringly.

"I hope so," I answered as thoughts of getting rejected suddenly creeped up into my head. If I got rejected, that meant I had to leave Julian again. And the thought of that made my heart drop.

"Hey, they will accept you. I know it." She said, as if she had just read my thoughts.

I chuckled softly, "yeah." Mothers know best, right?

After aimlessly chatting for an hour, I tossed my phone onto my bed before jumping on top of it. I stared at the ceiling as various thoughts began running through my mind. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I wasn't accepted. What would I tell Max?

My phone beeped, indicating the arrival of a text. I lazily reached for it, expecting a message from Julian telling me to do the dishes. But I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Max's name plastered across the screen.

See you tomorrow night! Love you xx

I smiled to myself as I read his text. And I knew at that moment that I had to get accepted into the university. It wasn't just because of Julian anymore. I had another reason to stay.

"When will the letter come?" Jade asked.

I shrugged, "maybe next week."

I was leaning against the counter, my back facing the front of the café while Jade kept watch beside me. Despite it being a Friday afternoon, the café was oddly quiet. About seven customers sat scattered around the café, all absorbed in their own worlds.

"If I get rejected, be prepared to hold me while I cry my eyes out," I glanced at her, chuckling softly at my own thought.

She was about to reply when the expression on her face changed out of the blue. A frown began to form on her face as I heard the faint sound of footsteps approaching. I braced myself as I slowly turned around.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jade hissed defensively as my eyes met Seamus' ebony black ones. He seemed to ignore the fact that we were not exactly pleased to see him, because he simply smiled. "Can't a man have his coffee?"

Jade glanced at me before reluctantly taking his order. I kept my head low as I made his coffee, not wanting to have any form of conversation with him.

"So how've you been, Kyra?"

Well, Seamus did have a tendency to pretend that the past didn't matter. Since I wasn't in the mood to argue, I took a deep breath and replied him. "Fine." He nodded slowly before speaking again. "I heard Schalke won the Europa League on Wednesday."

"Yeah," I replied monotonously.

"I heard they had a party that night too," he said as I passed him his coffee. I raised my eyebrows in acknowledgement before fetching my blender to wash. I wasn't going to have a conversation whether he liked it or not.

"I also heard what happened with your boyfriend that night. Can't believe he did that even though he has you."

My feet stopped working at that moment. What did he say? I had to force myself to turn and face Seamus. But as I stared at him, I suddenly couldn't find the words I wanted to speak. He briefly studied my face before laughing.

"He didn't tell you, did he?" he said.

I felt Jade clutch my arm gently as my stomach churned. What's he talking about?

"Get out, Seamus," she said, "we don't need your lies around here."

He shook his head, looking me right in the eye, "you think I'm lying? Ask him yourself, Kyra." He nodded at Jade before picking up his coffee and leaving the way he came in.

My heart was racing in my chest, and I didn't know what to feel. This was Seamus, my ex-boyfriend who I doubt had any likings for Max. He was just trying to make Max look bad, right?

"Don't listen to him," Jade said, placing a hand on my shoulder. "He's probably jealous that you're dating someone better then him."

Jade was probably right. He was doing just that. He was just trying to mess with my head, that's all. And I told myself to believe that.
