It took a long time for Batman to realise his feelings for the Joker.
And it took even longer for him to except those feelings.
It took Batman 5 years to finally say those words to Joker, the words that the jester had been telling him from the start.
"I love you."
And for some reason, the clown prince stopped his chaos, and even helped Batman in his fight against crime.
Their happiness was such that no longer did the Dark Knight frown and grumble, but that he would smile on more occasion.
