After spending 20 minutes scouring the entire house looking for Tommie's gun, I get frustrated when I come up with nothing. With time running out and I still have no gun, I pull out my cell phone and scroll down to Tommie's phone number. I didn't want it to come to this but I have no choice but to call Tommie and ask her where she keeps it. Once I press the dial button, I place the phone up to my ear to hear it ring a few times before being sent to voicemail. I know Tommie is still upset with me but this is an emergency and she needs to get over it. I call repeating only to hear her continue to send me to voicemail but I don't care, I keep calling; blowing up her line.

"What, nigga?" She angrily whisper/ yells into the phone once she finally picks up.

"I need a favor!" I yell into the phone as I stand at her dresser and snatch open the drawer, still looking.

"Dude, I finally got a job das' almost a hour away from da' house an' you blowin' my damn phone up on my first day hea'!" She snaps through her whispering tone. "Are you tryna' to get me fired-"

"Listen, its an emergency!" I cut her off, growing frustrated and impatient.

"What is it?" She asks, concern growing in her voice.

"I need to know where you keep your gun-"

"What?!" She cuts me off. "Hell nah! Why you need-"

"I'm in trouble bruh-"

"What kinda trouble could you have gotten ya'self into dat you need my gun to get out of?"

"Its actually Dez who's in trouble." I admit lowly.

"Oh....my replacement is in trouble, huh?" She said, the jealous sadness ringing in her voice.

"Bruh, come on man." I say solemnly. "She not your replacement... I guess, spending so much time with her I thought you would understand that I'm just in love with her."

"Oh, so da' sex worked, huh?" She laughs, showing me her forgiveness

"Yes and No." I reply with a nervous chuckle. "But I'll explain later, just please tell me where your gun is."

"I'ight, I hope you know what you doin'." She says as she sighs heavily. "Its taped to the back of my night stand on the left side of my bed."

"Thanks you!" I say as I go to her bed side and pull the night stand forward from the wall.

I reach my free have behind it and feel the gun taped just as she said it was. I pull it off and look at it, my face reflecting off of its silver, mirror like glow.

"I gotta' go." I say into the phone as the reflecting of the gun put me into a trance, thinking of how much power I am holding in my hand.

"That gun is loaded, Key." She warns me. "You sure you know what you doin'?"

"Yeah, I'm sure." I say lowly as I take my eyes away from the weapon and slide it into the back of my pants, underneath my shirt.

"I'm worried now. You want me to take off from work?" She asks anxiously. "You not really gon' shoot nobody. And you know I keep a side piece in my car, I can come through-"

"No!" I cut her off. "Don't leave your new job just for me. I can handle it myself."

"I-I don't know, man-"

"Bruh, I can handle it."

"I hear you, but I know how you are and even though you in the army, you know you ain't neva' shot nobody befo'." She says. "You always think you can handle stuff but you hardly do unless I swoop in an' save yo' butt."
