It seemed an eternity, those four long years

Each with its own blood,sweat and tears.

Men from all nations fought side by side

They fought for their countries, they fought for their pride.

Many had families, many had wives

They fought to protect them, they gave their lives.

They were brothers in arms, "Till death do us part"

Each displaying his valour and the courage within his heart.

They made hard desicions, "Should I pull the trigger?"

The guilt rose with each bullet, it got bigger and bigger.

They did what they had to, they were brave and true

They followed their orders and took their cue.

Then one day the guns fell silent, the fighting was done,

and to this day we will remember it, World War One...
