Shadow's pride

A silhouette stands out without anyone noticing,

present at the corner of the eye, but transparent in full view.

The body upright, head high, she moves without warning,

about it, others see only a bent head and a bent back.

She holds within herself honesty and respect, a world of doubt and suffering,

but everything fades in to indifference and irony, in the din of our lives.

That's when the light of some, flickers for a time, that she finally reveals hers,

The nobility and simplicity, the verb and smile, the strength and empathy.

Without any fuss and no praise, it's in the quietness that she shows her worth,

to one knee, to approach and help us,

just a smile and a hand to connect us,

an attentive ear and the chosen word to rekindle hope.

She's the unwavering support, incorruptible confidante, the soul and sister we were missing.

But far too quickly the uproar comes back, and then fly away the beautiful oaths,

she remains alone with her tears and desires, the loneliness her only friend.
