Tseax

The ground shook under Canada's feet. He fell to the ground, holding onto the tree nearest him. He held his eyes closed, not daring to look beyond where he stood. Canada had felt these things before, but he hadn't remembered any of them ever being this strong in a long while.

He counted to twenty in his head. The shaking stopped, only to continue briefly. He counted in his head. Every time the earth shook he started counting again. He was too frightened to do anything else. He got to one hundred before he stood to his feet once again. He ran back to the nearest village where he saw most everything in shambles. Everyone helped put things half together the rest of the day.

It wasn't that bad, Canada thought. At least no one had gotten really hurt.

It was only a few days later when his brother came to visit him. Though, everything was calm, Canada worried about the mountain. It kept shaking sometimes and it scared him.

"Canada!"

He turned around to see America running towards him. He let his expression fall into a smile. He ran to meet his brother and they both exchanged a hug.

"Why are you here?" Though he was glad to see America, his brother hardly visited this time of year.

"The ground's been shaking a lot," America explained. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

Canada nodded. "I'm okay," he confirmed.

Canada saw America look beyond him, his eyebrows creasing a bit. "Is Tseax supposed to be smoking like that?"

Canada turned around to see thick smoke drifting from the mountain. Before he could tell America that it had been doing that a lot lately, the ground started shaking and both the boys struggled to keep their balance. Suddenly there was a great thundering noise coming from the mountain. Canada watched as red spewed from the mountain top, trailing down the sides.

He was looking the other way when his hand was yanked away from the scene. America was in front of him, his hand holding tightly onto Canada's. The scenery around him vanished into a blur until his legs were just about to give out under him.

He fell to his hands and knees, his throat burning. He couldn't catch his breath and his head spun. Am overwhelming sense of fear devoured him.

"You okay," he heard America say between breaths.

Canada wanted to shake his head, but even the mere thought cast a new wave of heat and nausea over him.

"Canada?"

He felt scared. He had to escape, but some of him knew he couldn't. There was no escaping this, now. He didn't remember passing out. All he did remember was the heat and how scared he felt.

Three hundred years later and Canada still remembered it, clear as day. Entire tribes had been lost, people killed. Rivers of salmon had been polluted with the toxins.

He remembered waking up to see America and someone else. Someone he couldn't quite remember for whatever reason.

The thought of the mountain erupting once again scared him a bit. So much damage had been done the last time. He knew it he couldn't ask for the volcano to stay quiet forever, he just hopes that when it does blow, he'll have time to prepare.

------------------------------------

The eruption of Tseax caused the destruction of villages in the surrounding areas. Much of the salmon in some of the rivers were killed by toxins thy leaked into the water.

This eruption was one of the first ones actually recorded by people.
