v. the trio of annoyance

— • —

[Rose's POV]

The week seemed to fly by. And I don't know how I did it but I got all three outfits finished. It was raining on the 16th so I had to race out and buy some waterproof garment covers. I had no idea when the Trio of Annoyance would stop by to collect their orders.

Over the week I had decided to name Jenna, Harry and Louis the Trio of Annoyance because all three of them annoyed me in some way. Louis tried to call me this week but I just ignored him. Making him this week's winner of the Most Annoying Person Award.  I was not fully ready to speak to him again. I had a lot to tell him and a lot to forgive. I also hate talking over a phone. You can't see a person's body language, which makes lying so much easier.

Downstairs was silent, not a single person entered the store all morning so I flipped the open sign to closed. If no one was coming I could spend the day upstairs doing things I never had time for. I kept the apartment front door open in case someone did decide to show up. I went straight for my violin. All throughout my life people told me that I could not have the career as a top Designer if I stuck to playing music. My music teacher also told me that I could not be a violinist if I spent my days drawing dresses on the back of sheet music. I will show everyone that I can achieve two dreams. Even if that meant living in a cramped apartment.

The current piece I was working on was Not Like the Movies by Katy Perry. She is an inspiration to me and her music comes from her heart, not her producers head. I was really focusing on the chorus today. The slow melodic notes calmed me down immensely. I always forgot about the world around me when I picked up my violin. Compared to music, designing is hectic. It's always full of risks and deadlines. I'm sure the same happens with music but to me, the violin is a safe place where I can get away from designing. Even if it's just for an hour.

"I love that song. It sounds fantastic on the Violin." Jenna's voice made me jump. I looked up from my sheet music to find The Trio of Annoyance standing in my doorway. All three of them were smiling. Though Louis looked as if I had just made his day.

I glared at Louis as I put my violin down. "You're here for your outfits?" I asked. Of course the answer was yes but I wasn't in the mood to talk about music. Well in fact I'm never in the mood to talk about music to other people.

"Yeah we just stopped by to pick them up. We won't be long." Harry replied, a smirk plastered on his face.

"Well let me through then." I motioned for the Trio to move. Without looking at them I quickly walked down the stairs. I headed to the walk in wardrobe at the back of the store. "Let me just get your outfits. I'll be with you in a second."

I carefully got Jenna's dress of rack. The material was delicate and it would kill me if I got creases in it before the big night. I walked back out into the main store area to give Jenna her dress. I spotted her over near the tops with Louis. I had to blink a few time to make sure my eyes we not tricking me. There they were, Louis and Jenna. She had her arm wrapped around Louis, snuggling into his chest. I almost chocked on the air around me. If it weren't for my instinct to keep all my designs safe I would have dropped her dress on the floor.

"Lou- Louis..." I choked out. Louis spun around, out of Jenna's grip and I watched as his eyes hit the floor. "I need to speak to you for a moment about your Tux." Louis nodded and I remembered Jenna's dress. "Oh and Jenna, here's your dress. Just like you wanted."

"Oooh!" Jenna squealed, "It's beautiful. Thank you!"

"Don't mention it" I mumble as I walked over to Louis and grabbed his arm, practically dragging him to the closet room. As soon as I closed the door I faced Louis, staring at him in the eye.

"Jenna is your GIRLFRIEND?" I hissed, trying hard not to raise my voice

"What? You've never had a problem with me dating other girls before." Louis' eyes flicked around the room. He was trying to avoid my gaze.

"She is not your type Louis! I don't want to sound like a nosey mother but you avoided those types of girls in high school!"

"What do you mean 'Those Types'?" Louis shot back at me. His eyes were full of guilt, grief and loyalty.

"You know, Beached hair, hair extensions, false eye lashes, a tan that doesn't look very real."

"But she is nice, kind and funny" Louis replied, sticking up for his Girlfriend.

"I don't believe you." I raised my eyebrows in disbelief.

"Really?" He sounded stumped.

"This is coming from a person that doesn't know much about her other than her dress size and colour choices. I wouldn't trust her with anything. Not with a secret or even a pound."

"Do you have my tuxedo?" He asked, steering the conversation back to what it should be about.

"It's right here." I grabbed his tux from a nearby rack, "I'm glad I put you in dark blue. It will suit Jenna's dress nicely."

"Thanks Rose." Louis half smiled before turning towards the door.

"Do you love her?" I quickly asked him as he opened the door to the main store. He didn't reply, instead he just walked silently back to Jenna.

I spent a few moments by myself in the closet before grabbing Harry's tuxedo and heading back into the store.

"Why is my tux on display?" Harry asked me as soon as I made myself visible.

"It's not yours." I stated, handing Harry his actual Tuxedo "Yours is here."

"Thanks!" Harry beamed, admiring the suit for a few moments, "Then why is an almost black tux in your front window?"

"I completely messed the measurements around and instead of fixing it, I decided to use it as a display item. It might bring in more customers."

"Makes sense" Harry shrugged, "By the way I really like your Spring Range."

"Thanks Harry. I need to clear this store out because I'm about to make my Summer clothes." I then grinned, "You don't wear dresses do you?"

The shop filled will Harry's laughter. When he gained control of his lungs harry smirked and said "Even though you have a great store we better get going and tackle the rain."

"Wait!" Jenna called, rushing over to Harry's side, "I almost forgot." She then opened her bag and handed me a silver envelope.

"What is it?" I asked, afraid to open the delicate envelope.

"It's an invitation to my party tomorrow! Louis will pick you up at 7pm!" She squealed. By now Louis had also joined us and he just stared at Jenna. I bet he thought she was making a big mistake.

"But... I have nothing to wear!" I whined. I was definitely not ready to rock up to an elite birthday bash

The Trio of Annoyance exploded into a fit of laughter. "What?" I asked

"You make dresses Rose. You will have the perfect dress for tomorrow." Jenna winked before turning and heading for the door.

"Well bye." Harry said, waving at me. I waved back but didn't smile.

"Bye Rose! See you tomorrow!" Jenna called as she walked into the rain. I didn't bother responding because Jenna got occupied with the rain outside.

Louis grinned and waved at me. "See you tomorrow night Rose." He then winked and walked out into the rain.

I just found the way to the nearest seat and when I got comfortable, I opened up the silver envelope, reading the rules and expectations. "Well that threw a spanner in the works."
