BUCKY'S POV
I wring my hands nervously together as I stand outside of (Y/N)'s childhood home. I smile as I remember exactly why I'm standing here, my nerves suddenly lessening.
The wonderful (Y/N) (L/N) has captured my heart. I've fallen in love with this beautiful girl, and I'm perfectly happy with it. I love her so much it hurts. We've been dating for nearly three years now, and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with her. I want to build a family with this girl.
So, I reach of and knock on the door, ready to ask the question.
"Hello?" A man answers, his brows furrowed as he stares at me. His eyes darken as he notices who I am, his jaw clenching. "What the hell do you want?"
"I'm here to ask for your blessing, sir," I answer, my nerves coming back. I clear my throat, standing a bit taller and with more confidence. "I want to ask your daughter to marry me."
"I'm not letting my daughter marry a monster like you," he growls, getting in my face. "Get the hell out of here and leave my little girl alone." He turns, walking back into his home and slamming the door in my face. I stand there, shocked and hurt. This man was never going to let me marry his daughter and it was killing me. Even after escaping Hydra, they're still controlling my life.
Hell, I'm going to marry this girl anyways.
YOUR POV
You sit in bed, reading one of your favorite stories. You don't jump when Bucky comes running in, slamming the door against the wall. He's done this so many times that you've gotten used to it. You sigh as you mark your spot in your book before closing it and setting it on the nightstand.
"What can I help you with Bucky?" You question, smiling up at your boyfriend.
"I went to ask your father something today," Bucky begins, nervousness evident in his features as he look anywhere but at you. "Even though he said no I decided to do it anyways."
"What are you talking about Buck?" You stand, moving to stand in front of him. His bright blue eyes flicker up as he stares deeply into your eyes. He sucks in a deep breath before lowering down onto one knee, his hands reaching out to hold onto yours.
"(Y/F/N), I fell in love with you all of those years ago and I love you even more now. You make me the happiest man alive and you keep me sane. You make me forget everything that's wrong with my life. My life is complete with you. I will never love someone as much as I love you, except for our children. I need you in my life now and forever. I want to call you mine and spend the rest of my life with you. (Y/N), will you do me the honor of being my wife?"
Tears fill your eyes, a few slipping out and down your cheeks as you stare down at Bucky. You nod yes, not trusting yourself with words. He stands, hugging you tightly to him. You laugh as he pulls away to reach into his pocket. He pulls out a beautiful diamond ring and slips it onto your finger before pulling you to him once more, his lips connecting with yours.
You fall asleep in his arms, happier than you've ever been. Yet, one thing still tugs at the back of your mind.
The next morning you drive to your childhood home, angry thoughts filling your mind. You pound on the front door, tapping your foot as you wait impatiently for your father to answer the door. "(Y/N)?" He questions in a groggy voice as he opens the door, staring at you in confusion. "What are you doing here?"
"Why did you say no?" You yell, letting your anger take control. "Why didn't you give your blessing to him?"
Your father scoffs, "He's a monster honey. He's no good for you."
"You don't know what's good for me," you growl, pointing an accusing finger at him. "Bucky came here and asked for your permission to marry me. Does that sound like something a monster would do? He's not a monster and I'm sick and tired of people thinking of him like that. Bucky is the light of my life and I love him more than anything. He makes me happier than anybody ever has and I don't care what you think about him. I'm marrying him whether you like it or not."
"Like hell you are!" He yells, shoving your hand away. "You marry him and you can forget about being a part of this family!"
"Fuck you!" You scream, turning and making your way down the sidewalk and to your car.
"I'm marrying him, whether or not you consider me a part of this family or not. He's my family."
