Before her life was simple. I had worked everything out- no engaging, no showing weakness and definitely no falling in love. By following these rules I had on multiple occasions avoided disappointment, attention and heartbreak. Everything was good and I had my place. I was to graduate the upcoming fall, leave this terrible town, and never come back. I had no friends, due to my first rule of no engaging, and my family was more than ready to be rid of me. If the alarm didn't go off 15 minutes late, if I hadn't stopped at the crossing to let the old lady pass, if the coffee machine didn't break, well then I wouldn't have gone to a different coffee shop, and I wouldn't have met her. On the bad days I wish none of it happened, I wish that the alarm clock could've gone off on time, it would have saved me the trouble, the trouble that she put me through.
