Chapter Six

"Ah, Weasley! Looking forward to Saturday?" Draco Malfoy was wearing a superior smirk as he cornered Melody in the entrance hall. She was the last one in from the Quidditch pitch after a long evening of training. Battered, bruised and aching beyond comprehension she really didn't want another confrontation.

"Looking forward to pummeling your sorry arse you mean, Malfoy?" She pretty much ignored her own will and grinned as Draco approached her, flanked by Crabbe and Goyle.

"I'd like to see you try, Filthy blood-traitor. Is it true that your family sleep in one room Weasley?" He laughed coldly when her wand was suddenly thrust at his throat. Crabbe and Goyle pulled out their own weapons but she was sure that they didn't have enough brain cells between them to disarm her.

"You dare insult my family? Pathetic Hypocrite. Is it true that your mummy has to tuck you in every night and read you a bed time story-"

"You will not say a word against my mother!" Malfoy snarled, looking mutinous as he pulled out his own wand and prowled towards her. Suddenly feeling threatened, Melody tried to walk backwards but felt her path blocked.

"Put your wand away Miss Weasley. I will not tolerate low-life Gryffindors attacking my students." Melody spun round, almost smashing directly into Professor Snape's chest. Even at her (considerably tall) full height, Snape was still a head above her.

"I wasn't attacking him! He started it-"

"Is this true Draco?" Snape raised an eyebrow at a smirking Malfoy who feigned a look of pure innocence.

"Of course not Professor. Crabbe, Goyle and I were just minding our own business and she strutted out of nowhere-

"I do not strut!" She huffed crossly, indignantly folding her arms over her chest whilst Snape gave her a particularly nasty glower.

"Do not interrupt Miss Weasley, unless you want the consequences to be more severe." She shut up after that, glaring daggers at Draco who was continuing his tale of lies and deciept.

"...And that is exactly what happened." Draco finished. Professor Snape's lips were set in a thin, pursed line as he turned slowly away from the Slytherin to where Melody was trying to walk progressively backwards.

"Is this true Miss Weasley? Did you threaten one of my students?" His voice was deathly quiet yet echoed through the empty hall. Melody was sure that some of the windows rattled in their frames. Draco grinned and carefully tugged at the lapels of his jacket, straitening out the creases. She had always thought he was a bit OCD.

"Now why would Melody want to do something like that Severus?" Snape snapped his gaze from Melody and it settled on a man's rapidly approaching figure. His sparkling blue eyes crinkled with mirth as he peered at him through a pair of half moon spectacles perched on his crooked nose. He pushed them further up with a gnarled, blackened finger as he smiled softly at Snape.

"She's a deliquent-"

"I'm sure you're just over-exaggerating Severus. You may go dear." He nodded to Melody who gave him a warm smile before grinning menacingly at Snape, baring her teeth that she ran her tongue along.

"I'm glad somebody believes me headmaster. I'm only an innocent Sixth-Year after all." She winked at him, Dumbledore watching with amusement as his cheeks turned a delicate crimson hidden beneath his scowl.

"Eyes front, Severus." He said softly, seeing that Snape's eyes were trained solely on her sauntering backside.

"What were you thinking, letting her get away with it?" He snarled and Dumbledore chuckled before turning to Draco.
