Lana's POV

Taking in a deep breath I opened the door of the cafeteria, only to see most people staring at me making my smile falter. Lifting my head higher I walked towards my table noticing that as I drew closer, that it was vandalised.

Ugly
Useless
Whore
Pathetic
Black bitch

The words were written boldly in bright red lipstick across my table, each word was underlined messily as I tried to rub off the red lipstick.Closing my eyes briefly as I sat down at the table, I ignored the stares I was receiving from my fellow peers.

"Isn't she going to do something?" I heard a voice whisper as I calmly brought out my packet of skittles.

"Why is she just sitting there"

"It's about to go down, as soon as Eva comes along"

Opening the packet of skittles I scooped a generous amount into the palm of my hands, before eating them one by one occasionally taking two into my mouth.I hummed a quiet tune noticing how everyone was busy doing their own thing, no longer looking in my direction.

The chatter in the cafeteria became even louder as I continued to enjoy the sweet packet of goodness, that was until my mind began to wander to the events that had happened yesterday.

"It was uncle Henry and aunt Mayella"

I could somewhat understand my uncle Henry being in a gang but my aunt Mayella, I just couldn't. She was the only person I felt close to besides my parents and my brother, I felt like I could trust her and to just find out that she was also behind my parents death shocked me.

But as I dug deeper into my mind everything began to make sense, the strange men in black that used to come over to my aunt and uncles house, the late phone calls about 'deals', and the letters my uncle used to receive after my aunts death.

Rubbing my head as a sigh escaped my lips, I looked around the cafeteria seeing everyone was smiling and joking around with their friends. As I looked down at the table something caught my eye.

Two lunch trays were placed right in front of me and as I looked up I was met with, a boy and two girls with grins on their faces.

"What the-" I began but the girl caught me off.

"You seemed lonely so we thought that maybe we could join you" the girl said.

She had light brown skin that glowed with black hair that was messily tied up into a bun, a few curls framed her face as her green eyes bored into my own, her pearly whites shone as she gave me a smile before she reached her hand over towards me.

"I'm Alease," she said as I reached over to shake her hand.

"Lana" I said giving her a smile.

"This is Tasha," Alease said as she pointed to the second girl, who was on her phone.

Tasha was gorgeous with her chocolate skin tone that looked flawless, not one spot in sight. Her long black hair cascaded down her back unseen to me in a half up half down bun. Her dark brown eyes shone as she gave me a coy smile on her dark nude coloured lips, before returning her attention to her phone.
