Lazarus
Lazarus's short story is set in the prologue of the first book, Gladiator of Rome, where we see the invasion of Krista's home town from Lazarus's perspective and hear his story.

As everything Lazarus holds dear is torn from him in a single night, he discovers that Krista is missing from her family's brutal massacre and is now most probably a prisoner of the Romans.
