Jacob woke up the following morning at 7:30, smiling when he saw that Connie was still asleep although she had moved away and kicked the covers off during the night. He couldn't help but notice all her injuries, the shirt was bunched up around her chest which revealed the fading marks on her sides. The shorts revealed a few of the bruises on her thighs and Jacob cursed himself for not noticing that something was wrong before she told him. Maybe then he could've prevented Michael from punishing her a few times.

Jacob quietly got out of bed and was about to make his way downstairs when he noticed the fading bruises on her neck, he quickly wiped away the tears that sprung to his eyes, he couldn't imagine the pain she'd put up with but he knew he had to be strong for Connie.

He went downstairs and returned ten minutes later with a cup of coffee and a plate of toast, bacon and scrambled eggs. He put the plate down on his side of the bed before waking Connie up.

"Good morning", he handed her the coffee and watched as she yawned and sat up,

"It really is", Connie smiled whilst she reached out for Jacob's hand and took a sip of her coffee.

"I'm just going to call in sick, I'll be back in a bit, OK?", he placed the plate on her lap and squeezed her hand, "We can do whatever you like once you've finished breakfast".

"You're amazing, thank you",

"Only the best for you", Jacob released her hand and went downstairs, making his way back to the bedroom after calling in sick to work.

By the time he'd returned, Connie had finished her breakfast and was just about to go downstairs with the plate and cup, she smiled when she saw that Jacob was stood in the doorway,

"Hey, beautiful" he said as he put his arm around her waist.

Connie blushed slightly at the compliment, "You think I'm beautiful?",

"I know you're beautiful", Jacob took the plate and cup in one hand and pulled her closer, "What do you want to do now?".

Connie took Jacob's hand in her own and started walking towards the stairs, "I'd love to bring some of my stuff over here if it's OK, Michael's going to be at work until around 2:00, he started at 6:00".

"Alright", Jacob started walking downstairs before he heard Connie gasp, he turned around and saw her gripping on to the banister like she was going to faint, "What's wrong?",

"It hurts... I'm probably just being a baby about it though", Connie attempted to take another step but soon regretted it.

"If you hold these...", Jacob trailed off as he handed her the plate and cup, "I can pick you up".

He lifted her up and smiled when she visibly relaxed, he carried her over to the sofa before gently putting her down, "Do you want to put your coat over what you're wearing now and get changed when we get to yours?",

Connie nodded and got her coat and shoes then went over to Jacob, she wrapped her arms around his neck without saying a word, Jacob hugged her for a few minutes before letting go and trying to walk towards the door. Connie refused to let go of him, simply shaking her head and not moving.

"You want me to carry you?", Jacob smiled when he realised what Connie wanted, she just nodded in reply and allowed him to pick her up.

The drive to Connie's house was mostly quiet as both of them were deep in thought, Jacob looked over at her as he stopped in the driveway, he saw her tense up at the bad memories that she'd associated with the house,

"It's OK, I'll go with you", they both got out the car and walked up to the front door, Connie reached under the door mat to get the spare key, opening the door and then stepping back as she began to feel an overwhelming sense of panic.

"I can't go in there, please...", Jacob took Connie back to his car and made sure she was going to be alright before speaking,

"Tell me where everything is and I'll get it",

"It's the first room upstairs on the right, my purse is on the dresser, there's a bag under the bed and clothes in the wardrobe".

Jacob reassured Connie that he wouldn't be long before going inside and following her instructions. He returned just under five minutes later with everything she needed,

"Thank you so much", Connie stared out the window as they made their way back to Jacob's, smiling when they arrived.
