"fuck."
was the first thing patrick heard in the late hours of the morning.
"mm. joe?" patrick yawned, instinctively nesting into joe's warm embrace.
"hey. um. patrick. what are you doing here–" joe began. "yknow. in my bunk."
"you wanted me to sleep with you last night, after the party."
patrick responded, grogginess evident in his voice.
"ah.." joe started. "how drunk was i?"
"drunk enough for you to confess your love for me." patrick answered, face heating up after realizing what he said.
"oh. oh fuck really." joe asked timidly, as he inched away from patrick.
"yeah. you said you, um, love love me. instead of j-just one love.." patrick replied, cheeks rosy.
"i said that? thats so dumb" joe mumbled into his hand.
"mmhm" patrick replied, picking at a thread on the hem of his t-shirt
"like. well i guess uh. you probably dont feel the same way–" joe started, rambling about how he was sorry for how drunk he was, and how dammit, he's gonna be sober after this, and words went in one of patrick's ears and out the other.
"joe." patrick finally said, halting joe's thoughts, wide blue eyes meeting his own green
"i do. i always have, ever since this band started." patrick started, it now being joe's turn to blush profusley.
"dude. uh. really?" joe asked, doubt tinging his voice slightly
patrick nodded, stifling a smile.
"yes, joe. i assume you didnt want to confess your love to me while you were drunk. though?"
joe snorted, pulling patrick in for a hug
"a sober man's thoughts are a drunk man's words."

when I'm sober.
