All I could see was utter darkness. The cave was completely sheltered from any sunlight, and the entrance was not within eyesight. Various animals scattered along the cave floor, their scratches echoing along the stone walls. With my hands out in front of me, I cautiously stepped forward, trying to feel my way out.

Suddenly, my chest was hit with a burst of impact. As I staggered backwards, I bumped into a sharp boulder. Crouching on the ground in pain, I noticed that the atmosphere of the cave was entirely different. Though I could not see, I noticed that it was eerily quiet. There were no longer that flutter of bats' wings or the scurrying of rodents on the stone floor. Just as I had begun to stand up, my body was thrown onto the ground as if I were no more than a flailing ragdoll. Flashes of red pounded into my head as my mind wafted between a wavering cloudiness. Waves of blackness consumed my vision, and swallowed me whole.
