[47| Step up]

Respected. That's what you were and how people treated you. Not because you intimidated people, but because your beautiful persona led things that way naturally.
You always used your manners when receiving or giving something. Swear words was language you rarely used unless you were to stub your toe or accidentally do something painful. And meeting new faces was an enjoyable commencement for you, though you knew you'd met the odd one or two person who's ugliness shone out from the inside. But that didn't bother you.
And taking this positive outtake with you, you found yourself to be surprised in many wonderful things. Like this social gathering you were at at the moment.
One of your friends, which you had met by accidentally bumping into her at Starbucks, had invited you to her apartment tonight along with a handful of others. It was for a catchup night since many of the people were off busy maintaining their careers and businesses.
"(Your Name)," hearing a call of your name, you turned around to face your friend that stood at the opened balcony door, "are you hungry for some cooked food babe?" The mention of food did stir a hunger inside your stomach.
"I'd love some food." You smiled, stepping over as she gladly reached for your hand before pulling you both out into the barbecue area. There were more people outside on the balcony than there were inside in the apartment. Though you couldn't blame them, it was a nice night out.
"What would you like?" Your friend handed you a plastic plate as well as taking her own. So you pointed out to all the foods you wanted and watched your plate fill with greasy meat and clean salad. "Go find a seat somewhere and I'll join you." She persisted as you nodded easily, slipping around people and spotting two available chairs beside the railings.
At the table behind you sat another two seats, both with young males at it.
"So, you thinking of finding a girl tonight?" A chuckle was the first reply the British boy had gotten.
"When will you realise that I don't go searching for women like you? It's like you're a teenager addicted to Pokémon Go." The blonde replied.
"Come on Niall, just one shot. One go. That's all I'm asking." Niall slouched back in his chair and raised an unimpressed eyebrow before bringing his corona to his lips. "Alright, how about this? You find a girl, but all you have to do is score her number." Niall thought.
"Her number. That's all I need?"
"That's right brother."
"No one night stand?"
"Well... if you want to..." Niall slapped his friend's arm who simply laughed at the gesture.
"Fine. But after this you better get off my case." Standing up, Niall straightened out his shirt.
"Oh don't worry. I'm sure I'll be on somebody else's." With a suggestive wink, Niall's friend took off into the mesh of people, leaving the Irishmen to roll his eyes and shake his head.
"Hey!" Your friend finally joined you, handing you a glass of wine, you thanking her. "Sorry I took so long!" You shook your head smiling at her.
"Don't be. This is your gathering after all." With a short giggle between you both, you began into your hot food.
Niall's eyes scoured around the area as he subtly slipped past people. All of the girls around the party looked too easy, and his mate wouldn't count that as a challenge of getting a number. He had to find somebody that would be a bit of a bump in his tracks. But most of the girls here had been giving him the googly eyes the moment he stepped through the front door.
