Harley didn't see the Joker again for another two months, and what a fun ride that was...

Money had always been tight for the couple, and now that her boyfriend had left, Harley was finding it particularly difficult to pay the rent whilst being nearly four months pregnant.
She did however, manage to find a part time job as a local barmaid. True, the pay wasn't fantastic; about 5 dollars per hour, working 2 shifts a week. But overall, if it was enough to keep her alive, it was all Harley could do with.

"Whatcha havin?"Harley insincerely asked to the man standing at the bar.

"Whiskey." He mumbled back to Harley, keeping his head low and arms folded.
"Sorry," Harley shouted over the loud music and talking, "What was that?"
The man quickly glanced at Harley and nodded his head, "Whiskey." He spoke a little louder, this time looking her in the eye.

Harley nodded and unenthusiastically grabbed a whiskey bottle, before pouring out a glass of the alcohol into a small glass, "Here you go." She said, handing the glass over the bar.
As she passed over the glass, the man noticed she was pregnant and made a point of saying "You're pregnant?" Harley looked up and frowned, "Yeah. I am." The man kept his head down and softly replied with "You should be happier than that."

Harley crossed her arms, "What's it to you, nosy?" She continued saying "My boyfriend -the father- left me a couple months back after finding out I was pregnant." She shook her head and turned her back from the man, pouring out more drinks.

Slowly, the man took down the hood off his sweater and spoke "No, you kicked him out."

Harley stopped pouring drinks and turned her back to the man, only to see the face of him, the Joker...

PART TWO:
In her greatest attempts to pretend she didn't recognise him, Harley simply said "Oh, yeah I did. He deserved it really." And began pouring the drinks again.
He smiled, "Anyone ever tell you that you have really pretty eyes?"
Harley froze and let a single tear slide down her face, "Once. A man that I loved told me that." She whispered through tears.
"Well, do you still love him?" He forced the question upon her and finished his drink.
Harley hesitated, "I -I..." Before she could even finish, he got up and walked out of the bar, not even giving Harley another glance.

Harley quickly put down the glass she was holding and ran after him, "Wait!" She shouted as he walked out into a dark alleyway, and ran after him in a rush.
He shouted back to her "You shouldn't run, you're pregnant." He  walked faster, trying to escape from her sight.

By this point, she'd had enough of running. Her feet were aching as well as her back, "I love you!" She screamed, making him turn around.
"Is that true?" He eagerly asked, whilst being careful not to start crying.
Harley reached into her jacket and pulled out a gun, "This is yours. You forgot it, the day ya left. I've been keeping it with me ever since because ... I don't feel safe knowing you're not with me." At those words, Joker let loose all tears he had been holding in and rushed straight to his girlfriend, also in tears. "Oh, sweets. I'm so sorry." He whispered, and picked her up, spinning her round in his embrace.
"It's... o-okay Puddin" Harley spoke back through all of her tears. She never once cried this much for anyone.

The two locked lips for what seemed like years, until Joker parted her lips with her,
"So, toots. How's life?" She giggled and wiped her eyes dry, "Life is...good.".
