Blood and Water

Rain fell. Matt was packing his things, his day at work just got over. He was the last to leave work today. Overtime. He looked out the window and sighed. He hated rains. Getting drenched just wasnt his thing. All he could think of was getting home quickly and cuddling in front of the fire with his sweetheart, Barbara.
He packed and exited the office.

Elevator music always amused him. He had plenty of things to think during the long elevator ride from the 17th floor to the ground.
*ping*
The elevator door opened.
He walked out and towards the exit.
He stood at the door and looked at the rain taking a deep breath to prepare to sprint to his car.
"Here we go", he said to himself, before dashing out to his car.
He reached the car and took his keys.
He inserted the key in the key hole and turned to open the lock.

*WHIIZZ*

There was a whizzing noise amd he felt agonizing pain in his chest.
Blood.
Blood was oozing from his chest.
He realised he has been shot...right through his body..as he saw the bullet lodged in his car door.
Matt saw his entire life flash in front of his eyes.
His final thought...

Barbara...

And he dropped to the ground....struggling for breath..

His hot blood mixed with the cold rainwater puddled on the ground.

It was over in a matter of seconds....

"Hmph" let out Will...disassembling his sniper rifle.
"Another one down. Good for you" said Alex.
"Don't sweat it. Go make the call. It's done. Target down"

"Yeah Yeah tough guy" said Alex as he got up to call the contractor.

Will disassembled his rifle and looked at his dead target again.

Motionless.

"We gotta go get the rest of the money" said Alex just off the phone.

"Let's go" said Will moving away from the window he used to commit the murder.
.
.
.

"The money" said Alex.

The henchman handed Alex a briefcase, which he opened and checked.

Alex nodded, showing his approval as he walked back to a Dodge Charger, in which Will was waiting.

Alex gave Will his half of the money and left .

Will started up the engine and got on the road back to his apartment.

On the way, spotting a clear empty road, he revved the powerful engine of the car. He had no special love for fast cars. He wanted a powerful car. He loved seeing the needle of the speedometer race against those speed indicators.

He hit the accelerator and raced himself to his apartment.

He got home and changed into his boxers.
"That's 49" he said to himself.
Matt was his 49th kill.
He was an assassin.
He killed for money.
Will chuckled to himself. "49 people. I have killed 49 people for no god-damn reason."
"Well.. other than money."
