She was suffocating in a world that would never know her, in a place that would never see her, in a city that would never love her. Taking breaths that would never fill her lungs, she cried. She cried for a better place, a better world, where she was not her. She knew that such a place was impossible. She knew that when she opened her eyes, after hours of wishing and praying, she would still be stuck in this drab, horrible, polluted world. This was her life and she couldn't escape it. All she knew of was the betrayal and the hatred in the world, a speck of love, and a hint of light. She was the only one who loved anything in the world, or so she thought. This was the other side, the dark and terrible side, the side she feared would overcome her.
