Mistakenly the identity
of ghost and man alike
and all that we ever see
sometimes in the night
plaguing sleep
and yet sleeplessly
still we move onCame the shadow
to our porch
and found us
all awake
and hungry was it
to say the least
so we invited it
to stayPassing time in conversation
With specter most becoming
while somewhere in the open air
there was a spirit drummingWe stepped judiciously
and somewhat suspiciously
in circles round his steps
Until our tired finally met
the rising of the sun
and then our new friend left
