Weeks forgotten
In the split second
Of a chanced encounter
With an estranged lover -
Pains forgotten,
And wrongs forgiven;
Just lizard-like lust
For a consummation
Of this reunion.
The lizard yearns
To touch this
Coveted crystalline siren...
!SIRENS!
Police!
Hospital!
Jail!
Overdose!
But she is so beautiful...
Just one kiss...
Psychosis!
Gangsters!
Money!
Sex!
Will just one kiss
Awaken Sleeping Beauty?
I hold her face in my hands,
Look deep into those crystal clear eyes,
And like crystal balls,
In them, my future flashes -
The future she desperately tries to hide
With her coy flirtations and lurings.
There, in those crystal eyes,
I see the fiery pits of Hell,
I see the wrath which boils like lava,
And I hear the screaming -
The screaming of pain,
The screaming hallucinations,
The screaming of slavery
With its chains and obeisances,
With its suffocation and suicide.
This angelic demon
Incites fear within my breast,
And yet intrigues me all the same.
But life is not worth losing
For one lustful moment,
So in one swift movement, it's
Bye bye, Belladonna.

Bye Bye Belladonna
PoezieWritten 21 June 2016 The term 'belladonna' means 'beautiful lady' but it is also a deadly nightshade. In this poem, 'belladonna' is a metaphor for crystal meth, which is beautiful to the addict, but also deadly.
