"Hey stinker!" Sam called out to Gollum, who was catching a fish in a nearby lake. "Don't go getting too far ahead!"

"Why do you do that?" asked Frodo. His bright blue eyes were fixated on Sam.

"Do what?"' asked Sam, in bewilderment.

"Call him names, run him down all the time

"Call him names, run him down all the time."

"Because. Because that's what he is Mister Frodo. There's naught left in him but lies and deceit. It's the Ring he wants. It's all he cares about. What do you care about, Mr. Frodo? Who do you care about?"

"I care about you, Sam." replied Frodo.

"Who else?" asked Sam. "Remember, Brianna?"

"Why do you always have to bring her up, Sam?!" Frodo hollered

"Why do you always have to bring her up, Sam?!" Frodo hollered. His eyes were filled with anger. "Why can't you just leave me alone?"

Sam sighed. "Mr. Frodo....who are you fighting for? That creature, Gollum, or your dearest daughter, Brianna?"

Frodo bowed his head and masked his face with his hands. "Brianna. I'm doing this for her. And for Middle-Earth." he said, softly.

Sam placed a hand on his shoulder. Frodo looked up at Gollum. "Sam. I have to believe that he can come back. Don't you?"

Sam shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Frodo. You cannot save him."

"Oh what do you know?!" snarled Frodo. "Nothing!"

Sam walked away from him in frustration. "I'm sorry, Sam." said Frodo, quietly. "I don't know why I said that."

"I do. It's the Ring. You can't take your eyes off it. I've seen you. You're not eating. You barely sleep. It's taking a hold of you Mister Frodo. You have to fight it."

"I know what I must to do Sam. The Ring was entrusted to me. It's my task! Mine! My own!"

"Can't you hear yourself, Mr. Frodo." Sam was starting to become really concerned for Frodo.
"Don't you know who you sound like?"

Sam watched Frodo marched away in anger. "If Brianna were here, then you would change your mind. Then, you'd change your mind."
