14. The day after

I was woken up by a strange noise coming from the kitchen. What the hell is going on?

I got up from my bed, still half asleep, and saw Harry’s t-shirt on the floor. Did this really happen? No, this can’t be true. It must be a dream. But what is his t-shirt doing here then? This wasn’t just a dream. I slept with Harry Styles! WTF?

I went to the bathroom and took a shower. Morning showers are one of the best things you can do in the morning. You’re suddenly more awake and full of energy. At least it’s like that with me.

When I got dressed and ready I went to the kitchen and saw Conor and Ben there with three of their friends.

“What’s up?” I asked.

“Ooooo Sarah!” I heard one of their friends who approached me and wanted to grab my waist.

“Go away.” I said and pushed him away from me.

He was totally drunk and probably didn’t even know what he’s doing.

“Can they please go home.” I added with a raised voice.

“They’ll go eventually.” Conor said.

“No, not eventually, they’ll go right now.” I was getting really angry.

“Didn’t Harry satisfy you?” one of their friends snickered.

How the hell does he know I was with him?

“Please, can all of you get out of here this instance. I’ll give you five seconds to disappear.” I shouted.

“Baby, why are you so angry?”

“Shut up and go, you’re drunk.”

They looked at each other and walked to the front door. I opened the door for them and kicked them out. Oh…

“Conor, Ben, what’s wrong with you?”

“They were just over for some breakfast.” Ben said.

“Okay, but this just wasn’t appropriate, especially not at a time like this. Didn’t you see they were completely wasted? Well, I don’t know if you’re any better. Why don’t you go to bed or something.”

I went to the living room with the intention to watch a show or two, but then I saw Lucy there. I sat down next to her.

“Good morning.” I said.

I didn’t receive an answer. She immediately got up from the couch and went away, it was like she didn’t even know me. Oh well, she’ll get over it, I thought. But I’ve never seen her like this.

The afternoon soon turned to evening. Everyone went somewhere and I was left alone in the apartment. I was sitting in front of the television watching a movie, when my phone rang.

--Hi! Do you wanna go out? :)--

Harry. My face immediately lit up with a smile. Looks like he didn’t forget about me. Looks like he still wants to be around me. But, if I go out with him… How am I supposed to act after everything that happened yesterday? But after all… It suddenly hit me that it doesn’t matter what others think. This is my life and I can do whatever I want with it. I’m old enough.

--Hey! Sure :)--

I answered his text.

--I’ll be at your place at around 21:00. x--

That’s in half an hour. You can’t be serious. How am I supposed to get ready so fast? I jumped up off the couch, ran to my room, almost tripped up the stair and started getting ready. A little bit of concealer, to hide my under-eye-circles, eyeliner and mascara. Ok, what to wear? I opened my closet and started throwing out outfits. Clothes were flying left and right, the whole room soon looked like a bombsite. I tried on at least ten outfits before I settled on light blue jeans, turquoise t-shirt, black blazer and turquoise Vans.

I was just getting my bag out of the closet when the doorbell rang. Uh, this must be Harry. Did he remember where I live from yesterday? Obviously.

I ran to the door and opened it. It was him. He was standing outside the door, smiling really nicely. That smile of his kills me every time.

“Hi babe. Are you ready?”

“Hi, yeah I am. Shall we?”

“Yes.”

We went to the movies. He let me pick the movie. I picked a romantic drama, which is my favorite genre. I always enjoyed them and today was no different. I always get really into the movie and shed a tear on more than one occasion.

It was absolutely wonderful. At the end of the movie, when we were leaving the theatre, my eyes were still a little bit teary.

“Are you crying?” he asked me.

“I always cry at sad endings.” I answered and smiled.

He walked me home. It was an amazing night. I enjoyed his company and the fear I had before, about not knowing how to act in front of him, was all gone. We really connected and we never ran out of things to say. It’s safe to say tonight was my favorite night of this year.
