Z.
Suddenly even more hungry, we increase our pace and shuffle upstairs. We can still hear the noisy humans in the abandoned emergency room of the hospital, and prepare ourselves to take down our prey.
Now, the human's stupid bullets don't harm us much if they hit anywhere on our body, considering we're already dead and don't bleed. But if we get hit in the head- in our brain, the only thing that has a trace of life- then we're dead. For good.
"Argh," S, another zombie from my hunting pack alerts us that we're close, and we all walk towards the emergency room door. Standing in front of it, we notice that the noise has now subsided. I guess the humans heard us as well and fled. That, or they're keeping quiet.
"Grrrh?" N asks S for confirmation, who makes a head movement similar to an affirmative nod. As he's the most muscly out of all of us, S ninja kicks the door, making the lock pop and the door burst open.
Wasting no time, we file inside, and of course, the humans are prepared. They start firing their annoying bullets at us, and I try my hardest to avoid getting shot in the head.
"Dustin!" a human screams as S tackles the one named Dustin.
"Aim for the head!" the smartass Dustin shouts to his companions, and S straddles him. I wince as the loud-mouth human shoots him in the head, making S collapse on the ground with a thud.
I look around for a possible target, my stomach now growling with the sight of all the human flesh and brains. Now, I'm not proud of my diet. But I just can't help it.
The new hunger is very powerful.
N slams a human to the ground, eating his heart out- and the human's heart too. I still search for a target when my eyes land on a human, his green eyes wide with fear, that he is trying to supress and he keeps killing corpses after corpses. He is now looking straight at me, and for a second, I flinch, 'cos he has his gun pointed at me.
But surprisingly, he doesn't shoot me. I cock my head to the side in confusion, still staring at the confusing human. Usually they shoot us on the spot. My eyes trail up and down his body and I have to admit, for a human, he is quite fit.
What? What? Brains, Z. Brains. Focus on the brains.
"Yoohoo!" the annoying human named Dustin calls my attention, his gun pointed directly at my head. "Smile, motherfu-"
I growl in impatience, grabbing his leg and pulling him down. Hunger now fully clouds my senses, and I pull him up by the arm.
Nice bracelets, I think, as I admire his succulent wrist, when take a bite out of it. Juicy.
He is still screaming, so I bash his head in, effectively killing him.
Like I said, I don't like telling everyone about this. I'm not proud of my lifestyle. But, hunger conquers all. I don't like hurting people, but this is what the world is now.
I scoop up his brains, stuffing them in my mouth. I'm sorry, I can't help it! The brains are the best part.
And also, if I don't eat the brains, he'll rise up and become a corpse, just like me. Which is way worse. And if I eat his brains, I get his thoughts, his feelings, his memories.
You like, this, Dustin?
I'm sorry, Dustin. But I really can't help it. 'Cos eating your brains, feeling what you felt, it makes me feel... alive. Feel human. A little less dead. Even if just for a little while. I squeeze my eyes shut as the memories hit me like a tidal wave.
