Core

Just before the approach on the Core, we went to a little back alley. There were two girls selling some items. We bought a cowboy hat and a gun. I had a feeling that we were going to need them. We past through MTT resort and through to the core, but not before stocking up on healing items. I had bought some starfaits from the little shop in the resort and talked to the employee in there. They were a bit of a downer. We left him be and headed for the Core. I hummed a little tune to myself as we entered it. Words began to fall from my lips before I realised I was singing. We received a call from Alphys saying that the Core had been rearranged and it didn't match her map. "Shifting, turning, where are you going? Maze not mapped out, she cannot help you." I had sung. Two shadowy figures approached our little group. Lucy and myself jumped to the task. "Two mercenaries are drawing near, you have to stay defensive. Barrages more intense than before, better hope we can dodge them." I sung again. For some reason, all I could do was sing softly to myself. We passed through more lasers, were approached by more enemies and fought our way through the Core. All the while, I sang my strange tune. "Put one to sleep, go through both attacks, shyrens song rings out clearly. Magic words are gibberish, confuse, we stumble out of battle. What a nightmare that is approaching, prey and hope that you are spared. To pick on or not to pick on them, you have to mystify him. Dodge each orb, miss all of the flies, even ones made of butter, slink and hide from all the shadows here, though you'll still be confronted." We had reached a crossroads. We didn't know where to go. We had a call from Alphys, trying to get us to go in a different direction to where we needed to go. "Go to the right, go to the left, no go up. Go to the right, go to the left, no go down! She gives unclear instructions. No, don't go there! That's not the way! Turn around! No, don't go there! That's not the way! She can't see...which way...? Where do you go...? Who will you meet Alphys please... Just don't drop your call. So many fights, spare them all. Somehow you always win." My song finished.

We found where we needed to go and found a save point. We all saved so we could heal. By the corner of the save point, we found another friend. She was just a bit taller than me. She, too, had almost white hair and blue eyes. She wore a white shirt and a yellow bandana around her  neck. She also wore a pair of dark blue jeans and black trainers. Unlike the others, she wasn't hurt. She must have understood to stay near the save point. "Heya. You about to go in there?" She asked us. "Yeah. We've gotta or we'll never get out of here." I told her. "Well, I'll tag along with your little group. I've just come back, might as well help you guys out." She said. I tilted my head in confusion. I handed her the Cowboy hat and the Gun. She twirled it in her fingers and put it in her pocket. We entered the room to the left of the glowing light. Inside was Mettaton. "Oh yes. There you are darlings. Oh, it seems there are a few more of you. And, look! You've decided to have another go?" He taunted. "Yeah! And now I have my stuff, I can beat you, fair and square. No more escaping justice, Mettaton." Amy yelled. "Huh? Those are yours?" I asked her. "Yeah. I dropped them a while ago. Thanks for finding them." She said, with a wink. "Oh. Well now. Let's have a good chitchat later." Mettaton said. "It's time to have our little showdown. It's finally time to stop the 'malfunctioning' robot." He said calmly. "NOT!!!" He then yelled. The quick changes had us all confused. "Malfunctioning? Reprogramming? Get REAL. This was all just a big show. An act. Alphys has been playing you for fools the whole time." He  said. He then pointed at me. "As she watched you on the screen, she grew attached to your adventure. She desperately wanted to be a part of it. So, she decided to insert herself into your story. She reactivated puzzles, she disabled elevators, she enlisted me to torment you. All so she could save you from dangers that didn't exist." He said. It felt like he had punched me in the gut. I was lied to. I hate liars. "Liar!" Katie shouted. "How dare you bad mouth Alphys! She made you!" She shook with anger. Her knife had been drawn and turned in her hand so the edge of the blade pointed to Mettaton. "All so you would think she's the great person that she's not. And now, it's time for her finest hour." He said. He became more interested in the camera behind us. "At this very moment, Alphys is waiting outside the room. During our 'battle', she will interrupt. She will pretend to 'deactivate' me, 'saving' you one final time. Finally, she will be the heroine of your adventure. You'll regard her so highly, she'll even be able to convince you all not to leave." He said, with all of the enthusiasm of a showman. "Or not. You see, I've had enough of this predictable charade. I have no desire to harm you humans. Far from it, actually. My only desire is to entertain. After all, the audience deserves a good show, don't they?" He hummed. I felt a slight unease. "And what's a good show...without a plot twist?" He said. Just as he did so, the door closed and locked. We heard Alphys's muffled voice from the other side. "H-hey!!! Wh-Wh-What's going on?! The door just locked itself!" She cried. "Alphys!" We all said in unison. "Sorry folks! The old programs been cancelled! But we've got a finale that will drive you wild." He said excitedly. The began to rise, taking us high up towards the sky of the Underground. "Real drama! Real action! Real bloodshed!! On our new show... 'Attack of the killer robot!' He shrieked. The world flickered one final time, turning greyscale. During the fight, Mettaton admitted to setting people on us, like Muffet, and rearranging the Core to confuse us. Amy shot at him with her gun, her yellow Soul burning bright. It was displayed upside down. Mettaton ignored the bullets being fired at him. Then, we got a call from Alphys, urging us to turn Mettaton around to flip a switch on his back. We got his to face behind him and flipped the switch. He began flipping out and then smoke appeared in front of us, shrouding him from view. "Ohhhh yes." We heard him say. The smoke cleared revealing Mettaton transformed into a humanoid shape. "Uh oh." We all said. We knew it was bad. I tried to hold back giggles but they escaped me. We battled by posing, scoffing and boasting. All the others posed together, getting huge ratings, while Amy fought of all the attacks. We boasted saying we weren't going to be hit by a single attack and we did it. We filled in essays and all sorts. The ratings sky rocketed. We reached the target goal and Mettaton took some calls. The first call was from a familiar voice. It was Napstablook. The ghost from the Ruins. Me and Katie wanted to call out to him but he had hung up. A huge number of calls were coming in. Mettaton soon realised that he was needed down here, not on the surface. Humans had plenty of stars. Monsters only had him. He powered down, his new form draining all of his batteries. The fight ended and Alphys came through the door. "I... I managed to open the lock. Are you guys all okay?" She asked. She spotted Mettaton in the middle of the floor, limbs beside him. "Oh my god! Mettaton! Mettaton, are you..." She started. She checked his vitals and stats. "...thank GOD, it's just the batteries. Mettaton, if you were gone, I would have... I would have... I m-mean, h-hey it's n-no problem, you know? He's just a robot, if you messed it up, I c-could always...just build another. Why don't you go on ahead?" She said sadly. We decided to leave them alone for a moment. We entered a corridor. At the end, was an elevator to Asgore. We were all ready. Alphys came out and stopped us. She told us that she had lied. That we need a monster soul to pass through the barrier. I was taken aback. I had to kill someone to go home? I could never hurt someone. Why? Why tell me this now? We enter the elevator and ride up in silence.
