"Amethyst!" My math teacher calls for me to answer the question.

I squint up at the board and frown. It was a hard equation but I just knew I was missing something. Everyone already guessed what I had. Then BOOM it hit me like a tr.... Never mind. What I mean is I got the answer.

"Five teen," I speak too fast without thinking making my cheeks turn rosey and my eyes widen, "I mean 15."

"That's correct," he smiles and continues to explain how the equation is solved.

I can't believe I just did that! I spoke way too fast and made a fool out of myself. I just felt like everyone was staring at me now, when I knew they weren't. Ugh! I do this all the time. I'm almost worse than that kid who is almost on the line of being ADHD with how easily he gets distracted and must move every two seconds. Okay that's mean. He's a really great guy and makes me laugh it's just everyone stares at him.

Luckily, my embarrassment was cut short as the dismissal bell rang. Everyone around me got up to leave as quick as they could. Me, I sat for a minute taking my time. I was also contemplating if I should ask my teacher for help or not. But when the last person left the classroom, I couldn't do it and just collected my things and just left. At some point I am really going to regret not amazing for help.

As I got to the locker filled with the rest of my stuff I noticed a jock with brown eyes was blocking my locker trying to look cool. He looked familiar but I just didn't know how. Whatever it was I wanted him off my locker so I could leave. I coughed to get his attention hopping he'd move. He didn't.

"Hey! Amethyst, right?" He asks.

"Yup," I say popping the p.

"I wanted to know if you'd like to go see that new horror movie with me next Monday?" He asks and I look at him weirdly.

"I don't even know your name," I remind him before having to answer the question.

"Right!" He says awkwardly. "I'm Mark."

"Oh right," I nod, "My friend lives in your neighborhood," I tell him remembering I saw him in his yard once.

"So will you?" He asks hopefully and I slightly push him off my locker.

"I have plans, Monday," I decline remembering Calum was coming home that day.

"Tuesday?" He asks and I push him completely off my locker by opening it.

"I don't like horror films," I tell him plainly, putting all my stuff I need in my bag.

"We could go out to dinner Saturday?" He suggests

"I don't date people I don't know," I tell him hoping he'd get the hint.

"Ugh! Fine," he whines walking away.

I watch him leave as I close my locker. That, was just sad. I shrug and walk in the direction of the exit. Most people have cleared from the halls by now and it's just me and a few other smart people. I don't get why people rush in the first two minutes. The busses leave in ten minutes and there's never a wait to get out of the parking lot.

I pass by the office on my way out and see Mrs. Hood talking to the principal. My curiosity gets the best of me and I find myself opening the office door to hear what's going on. Me, being the horrible ninja I am is spotted one seconds into opening the door. Everyone looks at me only gaining a smile from Mrs. Hood. Ugh! Joy! She wants to be called Joy. Why do I keep forgetting this?
