"Miss Beckett do you know why you're standing in front of the court today? The court room was silent and I could feel all eyes shift towards me. I turn my head slightly and look at my lawyer. He nodded his head slightly urging me to go up. I looked back at the judge nodding my head in affirmation. My eye sight trailed lower.
"Very well" the judge spoke loudly. He looked down at his file before looking back up. The sound of his gavel hitting wood echoed through the court room. "Then let's proceed with this trial"
The bailiff stood up opening the beginning of the court.
"All rise" he spoke loudly
"Section 8 of the federal court now is now in session. Today court will be taken by judge Henry Fentic. Please be seated"
The judge spoke this time " Are both side ready?
"Ready" said the district attorney
"Ready" said my lawyerThe court proceeded to have the jury swear an oath.
The judge looked straight at me"Defence what do you plead"
"Not guilty " I croaked out.
"Would you please make your way to the witness stand Miss" The prosecutor got up following me to the front of the witness stand. He was handed a holy book which he placed directly in front of me. I placed my hand over the seal of the book looking him in the eye.
"Please repeat after me" The prosecutor started
"I solemnly affirm that the evidence which I shall give in this case will be true; I will conceal nothing and no part of my evidence will be false" He finished.
He nodded for me to start
"I solemnly affirm that the evidence which I shall give in this case will be true" my voice caught in my throat. I couldn't forced myself to finish the oath.
"Please finish Miss Beckett" the prosecutor spat harshly"I will conceal nothing and no part of my evidence will be false" I breathed out. He placed down the holy book as I sat down in the witness stand.
He started to recall the details of my case to court.
"On December 18 2014 there was a robbery at Robin Moore Federal Bank on 6th and Maine at 7:00 pm. Aspen Beckett along with a group of five were placed in the centre of this robbery. She herself was equipped with firearms"
"It was filled with blanks" I said weakly standing up in the witness stand.
"Please sit down miss Beckett. Only speak when you are asked" The judge said "-continue " he motioned towards the prosecutor. I fell back roughly into my seat.
"She brought out the teller and at gun point demanding money from her.
After being refused she made her way back behind the counter and opened multiple volts where she retrieved 7000 dollars in cash. She proceed to run out the banks rear exit. She was caught at Genoa's Blvd along with two other companions and a total of 18000 dollars. Under the hand of officers Henton and Finning she was arrested later on that night and kept in prisonment." The prosecutor finished off briefly. He turned away from the court and faced the judge."The first peice of evidence I would like to bring up to the stand was the security cameras from the night of" A big screen tv was rolled in from the left and the play button was hit. For the third time I watched everything from that night unfold. My heart beat speed up I could see my self clearly and anyone with good vision would be able to recognize me too. The nerves crawled up my spine. I looked at my lawyer, but he too was looking away at the video, the gears in his head were turning seeing how he could get the court to believe I wasn't guilty.
