*Chapter One*

Today was the day,
the big day I was so scared of.
The day I left the shelter to join the trainees and start training for war.

You might not know this but humanity is at war with the Titans.
Monstrous creatures that eat humans,
not for nutrition but just for the death of mankind.

My reason for joining was simple.
Revenge, and to get ahead in this hellish world.

I was horrified though,
what if I was placed at a dangerous post....
What if no one liked me.....
What if they did like me and then they died....
What if I died....

These thoughts were going through my head as the carriage with me and all the new recruits stopped outside basecamp.
Where I would spend the next few years of my life...

If that didn't get cut short by a quick death or giving up.
Giving up wasn't an option for me.
My mother had given her life in the Scout regiment.....
Leaving me behind.
The last thing she said to me before she left was "Fight for whom you love, and never give up.....good bye.. my child."

I woke to see brown eyed boy with freckles looking at me.
Was he shaking my shoulder?
"Excuse me, Miss we are supposed to get off and line up for roll call." He whispered trying to wake me gently.
Light pink dusted my cheeks as I managed a quiet, "Sorry."
His face became a little pink as he smiled.
Chills ran up my spine.
His smile chased my fear away and made my heart jump.

Everyone started to line up.
I stood to the left of freckles.
On my other side was a blonde boy that had a scared look in his eyes.

The general was standing on a small podium, shouting "My name is General Shadis and you will grow to hate me."
He stomped off the podium and started trudging down the lines of recruits.

General Shadis began yelling at the recruits as he walked.
He was getting closer to freckles and I.
Stopping in front of him.
He yelled "YOUR NAME SOLDIER!?"
"Marco Bodt, sir."
Freckles replied fear in his eyes but, still smiling brightly.

He took a few steps forward.
I could feel him glare at me
"What about you." He said eyeing me.
"My name is (y/n) sir." I said blankly staring forwards as he continued walking.

We were all sent to the mess-haul after the general finished his yelling.
I grabbed a tray of food and went to sit down.
'Who do I sit by.. I don't really know anyone.' I thought slightly panicked.
I saw a completely empty bench and sat down relieved.
The blonde boy who I stood next to in line up walked up.
I could tell he was extremely shy, but he managed to speak

"H-hi, do you mind if I sit with you?"
He slowly became more sure of himself.
"N-No, not at all." I tried to reply.
"I'm Armin by the way." He said taking a seat.
"I'm Jean. you?" A horse faced guy declared also sitting.
"(Y/n)." I replied starting to eat the gruel they served us.

Freckles walked over to us and politely asked, "Is this spot taken?"
A choirs of no's astounded and he also joined the group.
I pointed to Freckles and commented
" You're Marco, right?"
"Yeah, aren't you the girl who fell asleep on the carriage?" He replied with a slight smirk.
"Y-Yeah, thanks for waking me." I affirmed turning light pink out of embarrassment.
"No problem." Marco chuckled a sparkling smile gracing his features.
