Chapter 7: Dinner with Bruce

   A few hours later after a long day of work Nick went home perfectly calm as he given Judy a piece of his mind he did apologize after but said to just be friends. He got home and got undressed and into his normal every day clothes and went to make dinner. Blake just pulled in once he started cooking and he got out of his car and walked inside and closed his door. Blake took off his uniform and went to get into normal formal clothes.
   Just a few minutes later Blake walked out of his home and went to Nick's house. He straightened his tie and cleared his throat and knocked on the door. "Come in the door's unlocked" he said as Blake opened the door and walked in. Nick smiled at him "thanks for coming Blake it just might get a little loud with Bruce here." Blake smirked and told him "you're welcome Nick always happy to help." Blake sat down on Nick's couch as a white car pulled in and there was a knock on his door. "Come in" Nick said as the door opened and Bruce walked in and closed the door. Nick welcomed Bruce in as Blake got up and walked over to him and held out his hand. "Hello Bruce I'm Blake Wolf, Nick has told me so much about you in his letters. It's nice to meet you" he said as Bruce shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you too Mr. Wolf" he said smiling happily. The two sat on the couch and chatted for a little bit. "So Nick's said you too were conning animals in Smallville is that right?" Bruce asked in a kindly tone. Blake replied "yep we did that pawpsicle run for.......hmmm........about five years." Bruce looked interested as he said that. "It's been.......seventeen years since then" Blake added.
   "Ok you two the food is almost done" Nick said as Bruce went upstairs and went into Nick's room, but neither Blake or Nick noticed. Blake watched the news as the incident from last night was being interviewed by eye witnesses. "Hey Nick they're interviewing witnesses from last night" Blake said as Nick turned his attention to the TV. "Last night a big shootout between the Night Watchers and the ZPD was held at the old Construction site in Southern town Zootopia I'm here with some of the witnesses who were inside their homes watching this terrifying event" the news reporter said as they interviewed some animals that were in their homes during the shootout. "Wow looks like the shootout is the story of the day" Nick said.
   Blake looked at his phone "actually Nick it's trending on Facebook like crazy" he said amazed. Nick looked amazed as well and turns off the stove. "Ok the foods done" he said as he looked and didn't see Bruce. "Blake have you seen Bruce?" Blake looked and said "I...think I saw him going into your room" he said. Nick nodded as he walked upstairs and Blake followed him to his room. Nick opened his door and saw that Bruce was laying on his bed sleeping. "Bruce the food is done" he said, but Bruce still was asleep. "BRUCE! WAKE UP!" Blake yelled, but still Bruce remained asleep. Blake's expression turned to a grin as he got onto the bed and pushed Bruce with his foot off the bed. Bruce then woke up "oh hey guys" he said.
   "The food's done" Nick said as they went downstairs and walked to the table. They all sat down at the table as Nick looked at Bruce. "Bruce why don't you say grace?" He said as Bruce smiled and everyone prayed as Bruce said grace "dear lord please bless this food that we shall eat and bless it so it may as settle after we digest it and hope this experience will bring us closer to you, we ask this through you lord" as then everyone said "Amen!" Nick then got up and brought the food to the table. Blake and Bruce filled up their plate and so did Nick as they began to eat. "Mmmm this is very well done Nick you really can cook" Blake said. Nick blushed a bit and said "thanks Blake that means so much coming from you." Blake smiled and resumed eating. Bruce finished eating, picking up his plate and putting it in the sink. "Wow Bruce you're a fast eater" Blake said.
"Oh that's nothing, just wait till I go to an all you can eat buffet" Bruce said. Blake chuckled and responded as he got up and put his empty plate in the sink "I can imagine." Bruce fell asleep on the couch as Blake still sat at the table with Nick.
