When they got back to La Push, Jacob dropped Kate off before going to phase and change. Kate went towards the house and sat down on the steps leading inside. She dropped her head into her hands and cried.

She let out all of the emotion that she had been holding in for four days. All of the sadness of Bella leaving, the fear of the Volturi, the pain of Harry, now a war beginning to brew.

She didn't know how long she sat there until she felt Jacob sit next to her and take her into his arms. She sobbed into his chest staining his shirt with her tears. He didn't say anything but just held her there as she cried.

The truth was, he didn't know what to do. His heart was ripped out of his chest at the sight of her upset and he naturally wanted to do anything to make it better but he knew he couldn't and it was the worst feeling in the world. The one thing he could do was to hold he and let her know she was loved.

He didn't know how long he had been in love with her but he knew that it was long before the imprinting. They were always meant to be together. He was always meant to love her. He stood no chance of not falling in love with her that first day she came over to his garage.

She had just given up her family for him and he didn't know how to respond to it. She made her choice: him. He would make that choice a thousand times over again with no regrets if she asked him too but that was the thing, he didn't ask her to do that. He felt guilty, there were no other words for it.

Kate's sobbing subsided and she pulled back from Jacob looking out into the trees. Her red eyes shown in the morning sun.

"I don't regret it you know," she said not looking at him.

Jacob looked at her and moved her hair out of her face.

She shifted to look at him, "If I had to do it all again, I'd still make the same choice. Bella has never been the best sister to me. I knew she'd make me decide and I'd still choose you. You're the only thing I've ever really wanted and I'm not giving you up no matter how many vampires I have to take out."

Jacob chucked, "That's my girl."

Kate started to laugh but before she knew it, she couldn't stop. Her laugh echoed out over the field and off of the trees.

When she calmed down she smiled over at Jacob, "Do you think we'd be like this is we weren't magical."

Jacob smirked, "We'd probably still be asleep and not up at the crack of dawn." Kate shoved him in the shoulder but he caught her hand and held it in his, "But yes, I'm sure of it."

Kate smiled at him before looking at the way the sun came over the trees. Jacob stared at her and watched as the sun hit her face highlighting everything about her. She looked like an angel to him in this moment.

"I love you," Jacob muttered to himself. He should have known better, being with a girl with heightened senses.

Kate turned to look at him, "What?"

Jacob shuffled closer to her, "I love you," he said stronger.

Kate sat still not knowing how to respond but a flush of heat exploded in her chest filling her up. It was as if all of the darkness that was in her heart was expelled at these three little words. She bit her lip and smiled at him.

"Jacob Black, I love you too," she whispered to him.

Jacob captured her lips in a fiery kiss. The sensation was unlike anything she had ever felt. Jacob pulled her onto his lap to bring her closer to him. This kiss was so much better than all of the previous ones they had shared. All of their memories together rushed together in her head as they sat there kissing each other. Kate tangled her hands in his hair and he ran his hands up her back trying to get as close as possible. It had to be the imprint, because she had never felt this close to anyone mind, body, and soul.

Kate was the first to pull back from the kiss. She smiled down at Jacob who beamed up at her before she laughed getting off his lap. She slowly started walking away but Jacob stopped her by grabbing her hand, his face in a frown.

"Are you going home?" he asked her.

Kate smiled, "I am home."

If it was even possible Jacob's smile grew even bigger than before.

"I think it's time for a real date, Black. How about you and me go grab some breakfast at the diner?"

Jacob rolled his eyes and laughed at her before standing up and wrapping one arm around her shoulders. Jacob kissed the top of her head smiling before telling her, "God I love you."

She smiled at him and he two walked towards Billy's truck together joined at the hip, ignoring the rest of the world around them.
