Girl Beneath a Tree

Venturing out I espied a young girl
Serenely cross legged beneath a tree,
Her hands in her lap, as if to unfurl;
Seeming lost in her prayer; life's mystery.
A picture so perfect on early sight
But alas coming close my spirit sank
My early assumption had not been right
She wasn't in prayer on the grassy bank
For there in her hand was a mobile phone.
Wandering past from my dream rudely woken
I realised that moment was mine alone
My pleasant illusion sadly broken.
