the next time that tyler went to the clearing, josh was there.
tyler was quiet when he walked towards the boy. their chests rose and fell together and josh didn't stir when tyler lay down next to him.
in silence, both boys fell asleep.
when tyler woke up, the sky had darkened to a kind of purple and josh was gone. in his place, there was a small chain of white daisies and they seemed to glow in the dark. tyler grinned and wrapped them around his wrist.
later that night, when everything was dark but his thoughts were darker, tyler touched a petal and remembered how the first time that they met, josh's smile was soft in the fading light.
