Valentina's POV
"T-The onLLy reASON your ComIING IS CauSeee you caAn" the words around me are echoed and yet hollow. I can't tell who is talking or why they are speaking, but my thoughts are bumpy and my head hurts. Suddenly my heart starts to race and I feel captured and chained.
"Oh no! Oh no PLEASE" I beg and plead with tears clouding my vision! They were gonna do it they were gonna burn me like cattle! I squirm and scream helpless as the hot infection hits my shoulder. I scream and scream but it goes dark as they end this torture and take up another.
I see water in a bucket, lots and lots of water.
I'm gurgling and gasping. They hold me under and my heart panics as I kick and scream begging with movements for them to let me go. Soon they pull me up and I take in lots of air before they shove me down. I'm screaming once again begging for them to stop as the soap water stinks my face but not my eyes, no I closed my eyes.
Nicolo's POV
As we drive I can hear her kicking in her sleep. She groans and screams in pain and I force myself to look away. All this pain all these memories that's she constantly endures are due to my past mistakes and errors. They say error is human but it's not error is for cowards. Not only did I lie to her about jean and mines past but I got her wrapped up in this mess. The day in the park that I had seen her with cam I should have let her be. But after watching her for days and years she didn't seem like a stranger and although my attitude should have driven her away, I constantly pulled her in farther.
Taking a right I cower at the idea of instilling her here. The home was horribly named but had a beautiful interior. The room I had picked was homey and big. With the daily check ins from nurses and the constant visitors she would get better in no time. Although this wasn't the end of the world it was a pretty big step. The home was just on my left when Valentina's voice grabs my attention.
"Where am I?" She seemed confused and her voice was hoarse and low.
"Well, I'm taking you somewhere" she seemed surprised when her eyes traveled to the luggage on the floor of the SUV. Her eyes widened excessively and my mind went blank with fear and anxiety.
"Are we taking a trip?" She gulped as if knowing the truth to that answer. When I parked left and the hospitals name glowed heavily I turned my body to the side to face her. It was dark and late but I had no choice and time isn't exactly on my side. She looks fine but pale and in her eyes I can see the truth of her fear.
"Valentina"
"Nick" this new nick name was fine with me, a bit obnoxious but fine. When she started using it I accepted it as for her use only but she used it heavily now with sad anger laced in her tone. The car grows silent as we both breath heavy with anxious questions.
"It's just for a little while"
"Your sending me away" we had spoken at the same time and neither of what we had said sounded at all good. We had fought many times but this is different.
She waits silently for me to speak and I quickly search for my words. It wasn't exactly the easiest thing to say to someone but I would not, could not back down now.
"My love, your sick and I worry about you." I stop to read her emotions but I see nothing but a dead set face. Oh goodness, stubborn as she is I continue, "it's not for long, maybe a few weeks maybe less. It's beautiful and I'll bring Cam by whenever you'd like. You'll have your phone too and all of your clothes."
She had looked down now allowing her hair to cover some of her face. But when she looked up I had barely time to react as she jumped out of the car and began running straight ahead. It took just about 30 seconds for me to get out of the car and begin running after her. It then took maybe ten seconds to catch her. She squealed and screamed. My hand reached over her mouth as she lashes out at me.
"Please no!no! No! HELP HELP HELP ME" she kicks her legs and bites down on my hand. I scowl but keep my grip on her. She was trying my patience as I brought her back to the car and handcuffed her hand to the steering wheel.
"Look at me" my anger flares as she looks away. Her stubborn mind irks me but I love it all the same. "Look at me" I repeat it using my hand to bring her face close to mine. She squirms as I hold her like a child.
"Stop it" "please" I let go as her voice comes out tired and helpless. We both breathe again heavily but not like before more in a 'we just ran like maniacs way'.
"Just listen and I swear I'll go I swear, please just listen" I stop and rest my hands on the sides and top of the car. I wait for her to speak.
"Nick please take Cam and don't let her be apart of this please nick please. I don't want her to grow up in this. Promise me baby that when you take me out you will leave and we will live together in that silly house of yours and promise me you'll quit!" I look at her with awe as she clenches my suit. When I had said I would leave I wasn't serious. I was born for this and had command and order.
"I can't" I look to her for what she has to say but when I look to her she is crying.
"I know nick I know but promise anyway" I refuse and open the cuff. She gets out and goes to the back to grab her bags. She walks so silently and so far that by the time I catch up she has gone inside all on her own.
Promises were always challenging but these were dangerous.
