can't we ever just
sit and stare at the flowers?
watch paint dry or
just turn off all of the power?

can't we ever just
stare at a blank wall?
watch a plant grow or
give our mothers a call?

can't we ever just just
stand completely still?
see cookies bake or
just look at a windmill?

why can't we just put down our phones and just look out the window?

half of this was written on March 23, 2016, but the other half i wrote today. i think that it's pretty ironic that I'm writing about looking out the window when I'm writing this on the computer!
