Every night after school, we gathered down by the old creek and practiced. As to what we were practicing, at the time we didnt know what it was called. To us it was our magic. We were so young and niave to think that we wouldn't get caught, but we were only worried about our parents finding out, we never thought for a moment about anyone else finding us. I guess thats really what started it all.
I woke to the sound of screams and a smell of smoke so strong it made my nose burn every time i took a breath. I looked around eyes still grogy from sleep, on the walls of my room i saw flames engoulfing everything. Eating away at everything i owned and cherished. I heard a small sound come from the only corner of my room not covered in fire. I grabbed the small creature and looked around for an escape. The door was impossible to reach the blaze in front of me saw to that, besides even if i could get to it the handle would be to hot to touch and i dont know if more flames lie on the other side of door. I had to find a way out soon, i was getting light headed and my lungs were burning horribly. I pulled the top part of my night gown over my nose and mouth and made my way over to the window. With no flames blocking it, it was my best bet on escaping this inferno alive. I opened the window and slipped my legs over the side sitting on the ledge. Taking one more look at the place i once called home I held the little animal close in my arms and slid off the ledge.
I landed in the bushes that surrounded my house, or what was left of it anyway. I was fine except for a few cuts and what were soon to be bruises. The animal in my arms seemed to be fine as well, besides being a little shooken up. Looking around i noticed that my house wasn't the only one in the village on fire. Infact the entire village looked like a giant bon fire. I ran to the edge of the forest that surrounded the village worried that what ever had started the fires would find me. The screaming had almost completely stopped as i noticed what looked like droids rounding people up in the village center. One of the droids was talking to a little blue hologram, I couldnt make out what was being said. Moments later i didnt have to guess, the droids had started shooting those they had rounded up. Tears welled up in my eyes and I did my best not to scream. I felt so helpless watching those i grew up with, those i loved die right in front of me. Sobs racked my small body and as one managed to escape my lips the droid closest to me turned around. I held absolutly still praying that it hadnt seen me. My prayers went unanswered when it called to two other droids and they started to make there way toward me. Suddenly, in a flash of purple the droids were struck down by a tall figure in a hood. Behind it i saw other hooded figures with similar light swords slash through and take down the other droids. The smallest hooded figure put away its light sword and hobbled towards the thing in front of me.
"Master Windu", the smaller one said, "Found a surviver, have you?"
I backed away from both of them not knowing who or what they were, or if they were dangerous.
"We are not here to hurt you youngling", said the tall figure whilst removing its hood. It was actually a person, a man with dark skin and no hair. He put his light sword away and walked over to me. "We were here to help, but we arrived too late. I am sorry."
