Angel's PoV

When Christina approached our cell, Karcine and I were both laying on the big fluffy bed. He had just fed. But Christina probably already knew that. The pervert of a woman always watched over the cameras to our cell. She had someone else with her. I recognized her, but I couldn't place the name. The woman looked over Karcine. She always looked so cold whenever she looked him over. I'm not sure how she saw us in her eyes, probably monsters or freaks, but that didn't change the fact that she was rude.

Her gaze moved to me. I stood confidently as she looked me over. Karcine spoke as the woman circled me. "Why do you stare at my lover that way?" His voice was hard, but I could hear the curiosity in it when he questioned her.

"That does not concern you, young incubus," her voice was as sharp as a dagger speaking to him. The disgust for what we were was clear in her voice at this point in time. "Doctor." The doctor turned from Karcine to the so called Head Researcher. "Take this one to infirmary. Examine her change."

"I don't want to go to the infirmary. I'm perfectly fine," I argued with the woman. I hated the infirmary. The last time I was in there I sprouted wings and my hair grew to my ankles. They cut and scraped at my skin and chained me down for shots and tests. It was the most inhumane thing I had ever experienced.

"You don't have a choice in the matter, Child. Now go with Taimeses." She glared at me and looked to Doctor Tsalagi again. She looked back to Karcine and mutter something under her breath to him I couldn't hear. I was escorted from the room with Taimeses. There were four guards with us. I don't know why there were so many. They escorted us to the infirmary, but it didn't look the same as before. It was bigger now. I was pushed in and they restrained me to the gurney, face down.

I felt cold metal on my wrists and my back, as well as my ankles and my neck. I hated the restraints. There was a small flash of light reflecting off a blade as the jumpsuit like outfit was cut off of my skin. I shivered from the cold air suddenly hitting my skin.

I could feel my wings being stretched out. I turned my head slightly and glanced at the woman who was studying my wing as two of the guards held it up. My wings weren't small. Actually they were about ten feet each. I watched as she reached up and plucked a feather from my wing.

She walked over to her small computer, dome, device thing. I never learned what they were called. Karcine and I didn't use much of the technology. Even in Egypt. It projected a hologram and she put a clipping from the feather under a microscope. I watched her examine the feather and listened as she would talk to herself. A lot of it was hard to understand though.

"Interesting.... I can't believe that .... It's remarkable to see a specimen so ..." Her voice would get louder and quieter and I only got bits and pieces. I sighed and gave up trying to listen staring off at the wall. I let my mind wander to happy memories to distract myself. They seemed to fade though. They weren't as vivid as I remembered them to be.

Karcine and I were walking along the streets of Cairo. Everything was so bright and lively. The festivals were just starting and everyone was setting up their booths to sell fruits, vegetables, foods, clothes, and jewelry as well as many other items. Everything was so beautiful. Karcine had bought me a type of flower. I had no idea what it was, but it was absolutely gorgeous. And it was from him. We hadn't been together long. I was still innocent then. He showed me the entire town during that festival and had explained what it was for. Apparently it was for their God, Ra.

They would gather together to give part of the harvest from their lands to Ra for another season of good harvest and then celebrate the success of the first. I never imagined that Egypt would have a lot to harvest, but there was. Karcine turned to ask me a question. His voice was hard to understand.
