Color Lights

Slowly we danced, under strings of color lights.
The air was so tight, we were hypnotized.
To the strings that symbolized, our bond.

Slowly we danced, as you whispered slowly "take a chance"
He already had me, at the first glance.
For a moment, nothing had changed.
Now that in itself was erratic.

Slowly we danced, as you held around me so gently.
Couldn't help, but to feel incomplete.
It was crazy how we could be like we used to,
while seeking a port of entry.

Slowly we danced, in a summer haze.
Fireflies spark, butterflies in my stomach.
Didn't plan it, it was all spontaneous.
Tryna fix what was broken, but our efforts became.
Like a window shade of a light barrier.
Rarely platonic, but quit easy to see between the blurred lines.

Slowly we danced, with a bad romance.
Your eyes said "don't leave" in advance.
But we both knew it wouldn't last, it was a matter of luck and chance.
My dear, we hadn't neither such incompetence nor gratitude to one another.
It's safe to say, we were sadly misguided or rather just blinded.

Slowly we danced, although we had problems in a can.
You had thoughts like Peter Pan.
So childish and ignorant.
And I was naive, all I ever did was try to be considerate.
In the end we both lost interest, but by then it all got ridiculous.

Slowly we danced, at last there was no one else.
No intrusions, crowds or the voices in our head.
Just You and I, in peace.
Dancing under strings of color lights.

Xoxo, Tessa'LaBella
