She's always afraid.
She might say the wrong thing.
Because when you say the wrong thing, your truths slip out.
It's not just her.
He's afraid.
Maybe he can't concentrate.
He may notice the odd angle of the painting on the wall.
They can't fix what is broken.
Instead they throw the pieces under a blanket.
To avoid ridicule.
It's funny how they can't fix this without breaking something else.
